I'm tempted to repeat the question from the other thread currently at the top in this subforum for Packard Bell, this time concerning a brand new notebook, the TJ75: why is noone talking about it?

It seems to be extremely well specced for the price. The TJ75 I am interested in is the JO-077GE that has the radeon 5750 mobility, with GDDR5 memory. At passiontec.de (german e-tailer) it is 3 € more expensive at 680 € than the version with 5650 mobility that only has the cheaper GDDR3 memory, which halves memory bandwidth.

The version with Ati 5650m gets around 7300 3dmark06, which is already great, but with GDDR5 memory the bandwidth goes from 26GB/s to 52GB/s ! It still only consumes 26w with (my guess) performance in the radeon 4850 mobility class, which was absolute high-end for notebooks (I mean in the notebook class where you can still carry it around for daily use, that is weigh only 3.5 kg and not 7 kg ie. 14 pound like the super heavy desktop replacement notebooks with dual-gfx) just a few weeks ago. It has fewer "cores" (400 vs. 800), but does more pr. clock (and has 20 rop's vs 16 etc.)

Is the build quality of Packard Bell really that bad ? I assume it has a really bad reputation from scimming a few other forums, but would also like to hear from folks with recent experience with Packard Bell..

    Up,

    I have a TJ-75 with 3 gb ddr3 ati 5650 and i5 430.This machine is realy great,hd led screen is awesome,it can run anything on medium-high.

Also it has a great cooling, does not heat and it is silent. The casing material that is used is ergonomic/confortable,and I couldnt detect any thing that is poor in this laptop.

I bought the TJ75-JO-546NC some week ago and I must say that I am really impressed and very happy with it. Had a HP NC8430 before and was very happy with that one until the gpu overheated, that's the reason why I bought this laptop. But after a weeks use I am very impressed compared to the HP business computer I had before.

I also got this laptop, and I've been very pleased with it so far.
The only fault, I've noticed thus far, is the microphone seems extremely low and with lots of noise. I've tried updating soundcard driver to no avail. Tried adjusting mic boost, but increasing it, also increases noise. What are your experiences with the microphone?

    Hi,

This laptop looks great and potentially a good deal. However, I am in the UK and cannot find any place to buy it online or offline. does anyone know where it is possible to get this laptop in the UK?
