Hello. This is my 1st post here; been browsing for a coupla weeks now, but I need some info on these guys. I'm looking at either the Ares or the Aegis book. Not too particular which.

I think these guys are a new company, so I'm sure there won't be a ton of info. I'm calling them later tonight (I'm deployed to afghanistan) and if anyone's interested I'll post what they tell me.

Does anyone recognize the ODM by any chance?

My big concern is service/support stuff, same as everyone I imagine.

Thanks for all the info so far and any help on this.

    :)

I'm not sure, but they have an interesting line-up of machines.

Yes - the first two notebooks are Uniwill I believe, and the last is an MSI-1029.

Might want to check them out on ResellerRatings.com. I have never heard of them before you posted.

****, good ratings from resllerratings.com I REALLY want to order from these guys, I just dont know which of the three awesome notebooks to choose!

    It's between a 2.2ghz Turion 64 MT w/ an 128mb x700 running XP 64-bit, or a 2ghz Pentium M w/ an Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 256mb w/ a switch that I can switch from running the GeForce to the integrated graphics...

    Which one to choose?!?

*Also* Most of the stuff from these guys is covered by a very nice warranty, 3 years to cover everything is like $150 extra, and some stuff is already covered for 3 years anyways.

Well, it really depends on what you plan to do with the notebook. If you are going to play games, then I say get the notebook that features the best video card - the 256MB of video memory on the Go6600 will be great to have for games such as F.E.A.R. and Call of Duty 2, Doom 3, etc. 64-bit shouldn't be a buying factor right now.

Vizor Gaming entry added to the pinned ODM list above :)

prices seem okay.. and I guess if reseller ratings place them highly.. go for it. but these 3 models are pretty common elsewhere, so never hurts to have other options in mind.

Well, I haven't had a chance to call yet, but I did check out the ratings on reseller and, while good, they seem very canned, like they were written by the same guy. Just an impression, but it left a funky taste in my mouth.

Hopefully my bad feeling is baseless and someone who doesn't have to call in the middle of the night can hook up with 'em and get better info.

^dont fret, there's lots of other resellers that sell the same laptops they have. rawpowerpc and xmeld come to mind, they sell both the MSI and Uniwill models.
