    Hi,

    I'm a french owner of a W840DI Arima/Flextronic/OCZ.
    The laptop is out of warranty and I've broken the integrated webcam :/
    Where can I buy it ?
    What is the spare part number?
    Is there compatible products ?

    hey man how did you break the camera?

    are you sure its outta warrantee, this laptop is only been out for 8 months.



    also, can you show me how you broke it? it could be fixable, post a picture.

    the webcam doesn't power on at boot.
    the chipset is recognized but no video output, no led power on
    tested with
    xp
    vista
    seven
    ubuntu
    mandriva

    No drivers needed for microsoft OS
    Drivers were installed for Linux
    And I've opened the laptop to check cable connexion
    ok

    since you say you have already opened it up, i would now; remove the cable from the harness and re plug it back in (reSEAT the cable)

    i could be just lose, remember its only a 4 pin USB cable (if im correct) so you shoulod have two pins that are GND (ground) and one pin + 5 volts (power) and one last pin +5 volts (data).

    check that all 4 pins have the voltages correct.

    also, forgive me for saying this but you use the FN key with one of the F keys, i think its F3,

    so you press FN and while holding FN press the F3 key,

    this will turn the camera on (if its off) or it will turn the camera off (if its on)

    please check your camers is not simply turned off

    i was a reseller and these are next to impossible to get parts for now. i have re-ordered many parts a few time over and still have not got them..
