Just received my new HGL30 from powernotebooks.com and wanted to know the most critical updates needed for safe/practical use, ie driver files for the graphics card - how do I check what I have?

Also I wished to know how useful the "Security Platform" is, as well as "Omni-pass"

Welcome to the forums, and welcome to the Compal forums!

As far as critical updates are concerned--I'd say the old addage fits extremely well here: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm actually still running on stock everything since I got my HEL80 in early July last year. No problems.

Of course, you can always update your GPU drivers and BIOS...but my general advice is to leave well enough alone unless you have a specific issue you are trying to fix and you know the update will resolve it.

As for the Security platform--unless you are working within a large corporate environment where you need the added security--I would say don't bother with it. The Omnipass is quite useful in my opinion though--great for convenience in remembering all of your various passwords on the internet.
