Does your laptop have a pcmcia or a express card slot?
if it has one or the other than you are in luck

you must determine which port your laptop has before buying the firewire add-on card.

Here are some gadgets which you can look into getting

    pcmcia to large firewire port:

pcmcia to large and small firewire port:

    expresscard to firewire:

    I hope this helps

Go into control panel, and click on add new hardware, your camera or your expresscard adaptor should come up. Then it will ask you for the software, if it found the adaptor, than install the appropriate driver for the adaptor. If the camera is found, install the driver for the camera.
Usually the drivers are on a cd, which came with the adaptor or the camera.

If the adaptor did not come with a driver cd, than it should be picked up by windows automatically.
Sometimes windows does not pick hardware up on the first time, so hopefully running add new hardware, the system will scan and find that you installed a new piece of hardware.

    Good luck,

    K-TRON
