Hi, i bought this laptop a number of months ago, and have recently encountered a few problems.

My first issue was with BattleField 2, in which it is nearly impossible to play, however after reading these boards, i now know this is a known issue and hope they can fix it soon.

My next issue, is a rather more severe one.

Mainly i play CounterStrikeSource and Dark Crusade, and have no problems running or playing these games whatsoever.

I recently purchased BF2142, in the hopes that the same issues from BF2 would not be present, they were, however i believe i have managed to fix them, the main issue however is that after 10 minutes of play, my laptop will turn off, this, i can only imagine is due to overheating.

Curious as i was to this issue i downloaded Everest, to check the running temperatures, and for that my basic IDLE temperature is 70 Degrees Centigrade (which to me seems far to high)

And when under load, using the stress test with the program, my laptop was topping 100 Degrees.

I have read Zepto stating that the laptop should be running at 80 Degrees under load. And thus i obviously have an issue.

I would be grateful if someone from zepto could discuss this with me.

    70º, 80º, and 100º
    :O

    Never seen that...............
Mine in idle is always in the 30 degrees...

On load max 45degrees, and i chek my temp on Everest

I have no problem playing any game BF2, NFS:carbon...

I think that the problem are the temps, don't know how its possible, but in that temps do you get burned ? LOL

Is your fan running correctly? I've seen a post or two in here about "fixing" the fan by squeezing the casing on that side. Please find the post or contact your Zepto tech support on this issue.

Another thing may be that your fan may need cleaning. The cooling guide here at NBR has some great tips for doing that as well as keeping your notebook running a little cooler. With the 6214W, however, you would need to shoot the compressed air into the vents (and can only do that a couple of times before you'll want to send it in for a thorough cleaning with Zepto).

If you place your hands near the air vent, it is painfull after about 10 secoinds...

And yea, i assumed it was a heating issue lol. I was just hoping to speak to someone here, because getting through to zeptoi through their nusystems switchboard can be a pain, and e-mail is painfully slow.

The fan, as far as i can tell, is working correctly, it sounds fine, and never turns off.

As for the cooling guide, i have read it, but am not prepared to open up my laptop, and considering there is obviously something wrong, a cooling pad would not resolve the issue, only mask it.

It is my understanding that the 6214W does not need to be opened in order to clean the fan. It is due to the system's design that it would have to be cleaned by shooting the compressed air into the vent--since there is no access panel to reach the fan. Of course that will not get all of the dust out of the machine and it could only be done a couple of times before you would want to send it in for a thorough cleaning by Zepto.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to reach NUsystems. An alternative would be to send a PM to MKJ - Zepto, or Rene S - Zepto. They should be able to help you get your issue looked into.

    Good luck.

Ahh, fair doos, i shall purchase me a can of this stuff pronto.

However, could a bit of dust honestly be whats causing the 20 Degrees of temperature increase on what zepto have said is the norm on these forums? (50-80 over 70-100)

    Have you read my thread?

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1534344#post1534344

I assume your problems are similar. For a laptop a couple of months old i wouldnt expect it to be dust causing your problems.

It turns out that there was a problem with the heatpipes in mine, which caused the overheating and crashing. They replaced it and sent it back, works fine now, left on all night temps will idle at about 40C, underload (playing games CS:S, HL2, F.E.A.R) it'll stay around 55C-70C

Out of interest when did you buy your laptop, somewhere along the lines of July?

I was advised to ring the DK department of zepto, if you cant get hold of Rene or Morton on here then i'd be tempted to ring/email them below

Chances are it's what RichardBaines' problem was, but a dirty fan can cause some significant temperature increases--as the proper airflow will not reach the hottest parts of your notebook. Heat is the your notebook components' biggest enemy.
