Wondering what's the max processor that my Zepto can handle. Spoke to someone at Zepto who said that I could use the T7xxx processors, but is there a particular model which will work? Don't want to spend £400 only to find that it doesn't work!

Which is the best processor of this range? Currently using a T5000 2Ghz. Am i going to see a marked difference here re game playing / running programs?

I've just looked into it and apparently the 2425W is a Compal HEL80 which uses the 667MHz processors, so the max would be a T7200 or T7400. It looks like the T7200 was the max speed Zepto sold the units preinstalled with from what i've been able to search on via google.

brilliant. Regarding the T7200 and 400, is there just one type (socket M for example)?
just opened up machine only to find that don't have a T5000 whic i thought, but a T2500 so i'm assuming there would be a massive difference?

Also, what type of fan would i need to get (if any different)?

Kadet2k8, just been having a look on cpuworld.com and it's saying that all teh t7xxx are 667 and have the same specs except the cpu speed. Does this mean that i can use teh t7600 or t7800 with it too?

Well you might end up having a very very very hot laptop if you use anything higher than T7200, or having a laptop that simply shuts off becuase it can't despense the heat. But in theory you should be able to use the T7600 and T7800 processors also.

The Znote 2425W is based upon the Napa Platform, so it'll accept only Socket M CPUs. If it was sold with Merom CPUs (T5xxx and T7xxx), then you would probably need to update the BIOS to the latest version (be careful if you do this), install a Merom CPU and boot.

T7xxx series includes the T7200, T7400 and the T7600. These are the high-end Socket M Meroms. And you can obviously undervolt the CPU to reduce the TDP and load temperatures significantly.

Remember: A CPU upgrade will only help improve the performance of tasks that are CPU-intensive.

I've gone for the t7400 which should be here in 7 days. Looking at the temp output compared to the t2500 chip, it's only 3higher so i'm assuming that it won't get too much hotter? How can i find out what size fan i need with this laptop as i want to replace the one in there?

    cheers

Well only the one manufactured for the 2425W model fits. It's not like with stationary machines where you can just buy a new and better fan.
