From the specs it looks like either the Tongfang Intel or AMD model BUT the chassis is different, reminds me of the old Omen.

@XMG could you clarify the chassis used for the new NEO and PRO models?

I've seen the heatsink on the AMD CPU models has only two heatpipes over the CPU. That'll overheat quickly.

My question regarding the intel models is this: Do those models for 2021 have the same 3 heatpipe cooling system over the CPU like they did last year? Or are the AMD/intel models sharing heatsinks now?

A bit confused, the XMG site states 150w power envelope on the NEO 17 product page blurbs.

Im happy to see they fixed the webcam placement in Tongfang GM7MG0P, now we just need this with 5900hx or at least 5800h. It is strange eluktronics are starting to offer preorders of max 17 with 5800h in the older chassis rather than this one. I even remember Tom from xmg mentioning about reasons why they did not offer their variant of Max 17 last year and webcam placement was one of them.

Edit: My bad i checked again and eluktronics chasis is updated to this one.

Maybe. Overboost should add a little on top of that (only with retailers such as xmg and eluktronics)

Yea, hopefully I could bump it to 145-150 and keep the 15 on top.

Though all this business and looking at what's going on with desktop it might be worth waiting to see if AMD makes any moves.

I've got my eye on the AMD/3080 variant. I'm hoping it might be 150/15 rather than 150 total, have you seen anything solid indicating it's 135/15? Seems odd only giving 10 more watts to play with on the 3080 versus 3070.

Never mind; I strolled around the Electro site and see it does show 135/15. Also noticed they show a 230 watt power supply which can't be right. Don't mention a raid 0 configuration either although I think it's supposed to be a possibility. For me the transfer speeds don't matter so much as it's a cheaper way to get to 2 ter which is what I need for storage. Still, looks promising depending on the actual numbers. I do like the 2k screen, have one now and it's a nice compromise between HD and 4k; my old eyes can run the desktop native on a 17" screen and it's well matched to the available graphics power. I don't see myself going back to HD although back when I bought the laptop I have now with the desktop 1080 I expected the one I would be buying now would be no excuses legitimately 4k capable. That didn't exactly happen.

Do Tongfang and Eluktronics use the same exact parts? Also, does the new Mech 15 G3 have better thermals than the Prometheus XVII or vice versa?

Eluktronics models are based on tongfang chassis.

Don't have info on your second question.

For Eluktronics customers: Eluktroboost has been replaced by selectable wattage, for clarity's sake.

Ok thank you. Based on their different chassis and heat pipes, I thought maybe you knew if the Mech or Prometheus had better cooling capabilities

As indicated in the following review of the XVII 10875h+3070 version, the fan noise will be like jet under high TDP.

Eluktronics MAX-15 seems more interesting to me, a kinda perfect balance between performance and portability.

I would take this video with a huuuuuge grain of salt. Dave mentions having bad speakers, but I checked and they should have the same 4w speakers that the MAX line has. And those speakers were a step above every laptop speaker out there besides maybe Razer. It sounds like he didn’t update the audio drivers which you had to do with the Max-17.

The small battery is a bit of a let down. So if that’s an issue I’d suggest the Mech 15 G3.

It's the same as the XMG Neo 15 I think, but I don't know the exact chassis number yet.

I am reaching out to you today regarding the technical issues that I've been facing since reinstalling windows-10 into my laptop. (The window 10 software downloaded from the Microsoft website and used up my USB stick to install the IOS image into window 10). After the windows 10 installation, the GPU 0 (intel R UHD Graphics 630) goes from 0% to 100% and stays for about 1-2 seconds, then goes down. after just moving mouse around or openning any sort of application it does that again. When it spikes, my laptop froze, and I encounter an fps drop. The "spiking" process repeats while my GPU 1 dedicated invidia graphics card 1660TI does nothing (0 utilization). [/b]
i didn't not had any issues before installing the windows 10. everything was working fine.
    Troubleshoot steps were undertaken;
Step 1: Clean installation of Nvidia's graphics card driver and folders using graphics card driver cleaning software.
Step 2: Letting window 10 find the drivers within the window updates.
Step 3: Downloaded the driver from the laptop manufacturer websites and uninstalled the drivers from the laptop, restarted while the wifi was disabled, lastly I installed the manufacturer offered driver without the wifi.
Step 4: Downloaded the benchmark software to stress-test to check for power utilization into CPU, GPU 0-1, and RAM

    Laptop info: TongFang
    Model: GK5CP6Z
this is what i have got in my laptop:
Chassis & Display Recoil Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD IPS 144Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen(1920x1080)

    Processor (CPU) Intel® CoreTM i7 Six Core Processor 9750H (2.6GHz, 4.5GHz Turbo)
    Memory (RAM) 8GB Corsair 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 8GB)
    Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti - 6.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
    1st Storage Drive NOT REQUIRED

    Hi everyone.
Can someone send me to the control center software of tongfang gm7mg0r (i7-10750h and 3060 one) please.
    mail:[email protected]

I have the monster version Monster tulpar t7 v20.3 and my control center is not working well first of all monster has removed the voltage option page i have only fan speed and profiles. Secondly it freezes really often and u have to reboot your computer to use the app again its sucks.. Bad app.
I looked for the xmg and elecktronics websites but elecktronics doesnt have the intel version (although i try to use the amd ones control center and it actually worked Fine but i never had a courage to try the voltage page so i dont know it would work too.) and xmg doesnt have the drivers and softwares on their website yet.

You could also use Throttlestop for cpu and Afterburner for gpu undervolt.

Have you tried XMG's 'old' control center for the rtx 2060?

Still sounds like you're ahead of the game or it's close with a comparison against 11th gen Intel stuff. This makes it easier to buy in if like me you were waiting to see what Intel brought. So... Who has purchased a Prometheus with the 5800 and 3080 and how are you liking it? :)

Well since none of you did it and I couldn't live vicariously through you, I bought my own. Report later, sounds like it's going to be a few weeks.

Which one? My reseller is seducing me with a relatively cheap Intel based GM7MG7P.

Edit: nevermind, saw in the other thread you went for the Prometheus with 3080, awesome. Make sure you create an owner's thread to share your experiences or post them at least in this thread.

Probably a better value case going with Intel. I like QHD: It fits well with the laptops available gaming power and the desktop can be run natively with the bigger work space. Not sure I'd want to do it on a 15" but I can take it on a 17. Should be a respectable jump from my old Aorus which is 4 core with a 1080

Finally found the Tongfang serial for the Prometheus! It's GM7ZG8M for the 3080 version and GM7ZG7M for the 3070 version. Updated OP.

    The Prometheus's 3080 is 135w + 15w right, not 150w+15w?

Yep. I would have went with a 76 if they had QHD available. Same problem with the Clevo stuff, you have to go 4k which isn't quite ready for prime time or HD which I've left for dead. I greatly prefer the larger desktop when I'm not gaming.

Did you go for their LM application or will you repaste yourself?

Eluktronics doesn’t offer LM on AMD APU based systems, since the resistors near the die complicate the process.

What? Yes they do, check the website. All 5800H and 5900HX come with Liquid Metal, and you can pay extra to get it on other ones

They use a coating to eliminate the issue with transfer and now offer it. I did get it; they use Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut for the CPU and MasterGel Maker for the GPU. If it had not been offered I would have done it myself, the reports have it being effective enough to get out of thermal throttling at beast mode which has been seen without it. That's not just from Eluktronics, a couple of the reviewers are supporting it. Even with the 76 Gade said she saw a roughly 5 degree reduction application dependent. She also said she was seeing throttling there, primarily gaming at 1080. And... Complained about the lack of QHD. :)

Must be a more recent change. They weren’t offering LM when the 30 series notebooks were first released.

Good luck. From a decent sample size, I can say that Eluktronics’ LM applications aren’t very effective and that may be putting it lightly.

I can always get in there myself. They're claiming to have previous issues solved but the proof is in the pudding. It was their 15" model that showed the throttling, can't remember if it was the mag or not but the thin one. Mine is a Prometheus 17 with a larger frame that should move more air. Dave whatever the hell his name is was claiming the Intel/3070 showed no signs of throttling in his review but included few benchmarks or other hard data. More pudding to be tasted there I guess; the Dave review is the only Prometheus I've found.

I can afford to make a mistake so if it doesn't work out I'll report such and move to the next thing whenever that hits. Somebody has to test the cool-aid...
