I know the question of whether or not the ifl90 will have either the 8600GS or the 8600Gt is still up in the air. But my question is, does an 512 8600 GS even exists? My thinking is that the GT isn't even going to use up all 512 of it's memory because it's not strong enough, so a GS wouldn't never need it, does that assumption make any sense?

So this is what I was thinking. If I just go ahead and the the 512MB 8600, it has to be a GT right? Or does a 512 GS exist?

EDIT: one last thing, it doesn't have to do with GPU but I didn't want to make a new thread and clutter up the boards.

If I decide to wait until mid June and the ifl90s have been released to see a review of it, do you think all the companies will have sold out and I'd have to wiat for another shipment? And if so, how long do you think a wait inbetween shipments are?

I don't know the answer to your GPU question, but I anticipate the IFL90 is going to sell very well this summer. If you really want one--and sooner than later--you are going to want to get in line ASAP. Availability will likely be an issue for much of the summer.

According to nVIDIA's website. Both the 8600gt and the gs can have a maximum of 512MBs.

I love that you use double negatives, "wouldn't never". Not really. Hopefully that was a typo, otherwise please work on your grammar.

Why do you think the 8600M GS/GT are unable to utilize 512MB of ram?

Ok, wouldn't EVER, happy? I took out 1 letter. My bad for making a typo...

EDIT: I think I read somewhere about that memory thing. Not sure though. I know that the 'Ms' only have a 128 interface, so maybe that was it.

ok, ty. I hadn't read that. Seems like a waste that way.

Do you think I'd get it mid-June if I order now? or is it too late?

I'd start calling the resellers who are going to be carrying it to get a feel for whether or not you can get one. My guess is that most of the first shipment is already sold--if it isn't already sold out at this point.

Give them all a call and see; you may get lucky. Good luck.

Even if you miss the first shipment(s), there should be a steady stream of them coming in throughout the summer. Best bet is to get in line though--as waiting to see them in stock can cost you weeks of wait time.
