Click the link and select the BIOS. It is free. You can't download anything else from that page without having purchased from K|N.

    In short

BIOS refers to the firmware code, a type of boot loader, run by a PC when first powered on (Depending on the PC you can access it by hitting a certain key (usually an F-key) within the first few seconds after powering on. The primary function of the BIOS is to identify and initialize system component hardware such as: video display card, hard disk, floppy disk, and some other hardware devices you wan also specify the order in which you boot, i.e. look in HDD, then CD, then DVD, then Floppy, etc(Here you also set the time and date for the Machine, OC the machine, etc.). This is to prepare the machine into a known low capability state, so other software programs stored on various media can be loaded, executed, and given control of the PC i.e. OS(Windows/Linux/Leopard/Unix). This process is known as booting, or booting up, which is short for bootstrapping.

    Hope this Helps

I know what BIOS mean. But what does "the" as in "this" bios do or update compare to old ones?

fusion, this one allows OC'ing the x9100 to 3.6GHZ @ x13.5 multiplier via BIOS. I haven't made it past x13, without a BSOD. Guess I gotta pinmod the x9100 for voltage. But..it's getting there! Only problem is it drags down the rest of the system. :p GPUs suffer when I oc the CPU - my Vantage score in my sig was with a 3.06 no OC via BIOS. Oh well, trial and error :)

I see from E-wrecked's post that it unlocks the multiplier to 13.5 but that he hasn't been able to get it that high. Is there anything else this does and is it worth doing?

It also fixes an issues when entering and leaving standby.

It is always worth doing new BIOS's when they are out alot of times BIOS can fix little issues people are unware of.

hoop, somehow they need to implement voltage increases for the higher clocks.. that's why I BSOD and likely why you can't get it there either. The guy who coded this BIOS did a hack-up job. Have you OC'd the CPU via bios and then used crystalcpuid to see what it does to the FSB? It kicks the FSB down to 800, and then overclocks.. I know CPU-z reports different, but crystal is reporting a 800MHz FSB that's OC'd not a 1066MHz FSB. This isn't a multiplier OC. Or, at least not as far as I can tell.

would it possible to unlock the CPU voltage levels in the BIOS? That would be a first eh?

I just registered over at GoG and it looked like there was only 1 post in the overclocking section and that was by hooper. There were different sections for like Crysis and the Witcher and a few more, but no posts. Any idea when that is gonna be up and going hoop?

Thanx guys. Wasn't sure what people would think of it, seeing as some people have a rather negative view about Ronald Reagan. But it seems to apply rather well in today's environment :)

Sounds good. I'm kinda lookin forward to seein what shows up in the section for The Witcher. Just beat it the other day and am planning on going through and playing it again. So many different things you can do in that game.

yep. if they would have just unlocked the multiplier. "the real multiplier" then the only thing that would change is you multiplier. and under any other os it would show your correct 1066 mhz front side bus.

    other news:
and you would also be able to use crystal cpu to raise and lower the multiplier & voltage without ever touch the fsb. when coded right in the bios. you should be able to get a few stable multipliers out of it.....but without the voltage...it's a wrap. it will never be stable above 3650 mhz. and i mean running a game at 1920x1200 high res (crysis). this will crash just about any unstable system. now if it past this type of test..then chances are...it's a good clock. and on the flip side of that...if you run your test at the right time..then a 4 ghz clock can be sustained..but for an infinite amount of time...probably not likely.... long enough to run "a" benchmark...chances look good...but all speculation...so prove that theory wrong! :)

    Hi folks!
I just installed the new Bios in my Nagamaki (0.28) and I can't get my CPU (X9100) at 12.5* (I get too much BSOD if I do so). Only 12* is working.
I didn't get this problem with the Bios 0.25.
I noticed that my CPU voltage was stucked to 1.20V
Is there a problem with that new Bios? Is it compatible with the X9100?
I know E-wrecked has the same CPU. What should be the voltage and how to correct it?
    Thanks!

you should be @ 1.313V via CPU-z; did you also install the KBC? And, when you flashed did you flash the BIOS @ x12.5? And, is vista set to performance? that's the only idea I have for now..

Yea I would say re-plash the BIOS.

My other thread in regards to the other subject was closed by Chaz so I dont want to lead you to a guide on the fix. As I guess it is somehow rude for me to do so. In any event I was jsut trying to assist the community and wasnt thinking about a single forum.

Let me see if I can dig up the fix I typed out and will post it here.

    Thanks for your answers!
Well in fact it appears that it shows 1.20V with everest ultimate and 1.313 with CPUZ...
Everything seems to get back to normal now (I think it was more a software related prblem for the BSOD).
btw what to do to be able to get the 13* on the BIOS? can't even boot at that multi!

when using cpuz with a notebook processor...it's best to use version 1.41 cpuz.

the newer ones don't report the correct voltage for mobile cpu's
