How does it differ from the JFL92? Faster RAM because of Montevina?

i don't like where usb ports are on right and how they jammed into corner. and what's up the exhaust coming out on the left side? i prefer it shoot towards back like the jfl92. disappointed with the functional design. :( i was curious what the successor would look like. pushing me towards m860tu or 5793 or it successor more. but that's a good thing too. :D

I am waiting for the spec's on http://www.btonotebooks.nl/
Goren, there is a HDMI port integrated. I already called BTO to ask.

Well well, so it's a leather look, it's design is different then the older XFL9X.
The notebook is delivering much more then just looks, the ports regarding USB are fine, the HDMI port is also in the correct place.
The FAN unit is indeed blowing to the side, not the rear.
The fingerprint reader is in the middle of the two mouse buttons for the touchpad.
The extrra buttons on top of the keyboard are there for audio/video and power.
the wireless/bluetooth switch is also on the side(left) further details like benchmark results and other will be posted in the next few days.

Nice. Noticed just 3 USB ports, in my opinion 4 would is much better. HDMI is great to have. But too bad the GDDR is only GDDR2, memory only on 400MHz, I wish it is DDR3.

Just mentioned in the Rizeon section that I just ordered mine :) They already have it for pre-order on their site. Lucky because I was really looking to get FL92. They estimate shipping in 1st/2nd week of July. I just hope intel don't delay the official launch further than the 14th, although i'm not in a major rush.

Looks like the DDR2 9600mGT is equivelant to the desktop 7900GS.

I was getting 4002 3dmark06 on my ol desktop.

Hmm, what resolution is that 3DMark06 score at? It seems fairly disappointing - I would have expected better from the 9600M GT.

And IMO, not as good looking as the IFL90. Its sleeker, but seems uglier for some reason. I think that gap between the lid and the base due to the hinge design is what the problem is - it makes the design look...not cohesive, in an odd way.

The 9600M GT is disappointing. Are they seriously still using DDR2? The overall machine is better than my JFL92, but not enough to make me envious. I was hoping the half year between January and July would yield more of an improvement.

that d3mark06 score are the biggest load of crap i've ever seen. the 9500m GS gets better scores. With that T9400 processor scores should be at least 5500.

He probably ran the test at 1900x1200 and AAx4 or maybe with 1 gig of ram. There is no info provided with it that number is just a number

Keep in mind this is still a sample version, so no final drivers are used.
Then again the 3DMark06 score is based on 1280 x 1024 with DX9.

I just placed this default review online, so no final result.

Sorry to interfere, but the scores might actually be the real ones (not that they're fake), meaning they will remain the same or with a minor increase once new drivers are released. Think about the fact that the current laptop Compal has mainstream is also using a slower GPU than the rest of the pack. Maybe they should stop doing this and just use GDDR3.

With new BIOS and new drivers we could see some improvements but even this is only around 600 3DMark 06 points more than my JFL92, with the same resolution.

Just to compare, last jump from HEL80 to JFL92(7600Go to 8600M GT) was 1900score to 3400score. So....
I was expecting increase close to that one.

Wow, this sucks. I'm really happy that bought my IFL90 with T7500 in September last year, as it seems no real improvement have been done until now and there won't be in the near future. By the way, the design is total crap, what gone wrong with stylish touch sensitive buttons?
What is the speed of RAM DDR800 or same old DDR667?

Any way I'm going for Q6600 + P5E@Rampage Formula + Radeon HD4870 and OC it all to the max. Now that's a mean machine. ;)

It's Montevina so it should have the faster variety of RAM (up to DDR3-1333 according to Wikipedia).

I don't know if compal is planning to make laptop with DDR3, it's too expensive right now. For the price of 1gb ddr3 1333 module I can porches 4gb of DDR2 800 and two crates of beer (if I get lucky, and if I don't, make that 3 crates :D) even then the speed would be almost the same because of the higher timings. And good system performance over an affordable price is all about barebone platforms. They should better add some DDR2 800 support.
Even now the majority of desktop boards sold have DDR2 memory support. I think it'll be the same as it was with DDR2, prices won’t drop until AMD starts to make CPU’s woth DDR3 as their default memory.

The the specs are nothing to get excited about but its still going to be a very good allround system with mass appeal i think. The positives from the JFL92 are:

    1. 1066MHz FSB
    2. 800MHz DDR2 Ram
    3. HDMI
    4. Sleeker design
    5. Bluray support
    6. The 9600M GT will still be faster than a 8600M GT although those benchmarks aren't really anything to go on right now i guess.

The price will most likely be more affordable than the competition as with the previous JFL92. If you start using DDR3 everywhere than you'll come into the premium price range and in that case you're better off getting new Clevo 15.4" which has what this is missing. If you got the cash then great. IN the UK I pre-ordered a pretty high spec for £900 which is really good value. The basic Clevo model on eurocoms site starts at £1150. By the time i add the things i want i'm looking at £1500+ which was way too much. I could buy a pretty powerful desktop and and JHL90 in that price, lol

I guess it'll be about time for a new notebook by the time this comes out.

Don't like the design. The USB port placement is horrible. Now I have to run cords in front of the DVD drive again just like with my HEL80. It becomes troublesome. Almost makes me want to get the JFL92. And back down to three ports? Headphone jack in front of the notebook; not a big fan of that.

    Design wise for me: JFL92 > HEL80 > JFL9X

No XP support and no Drivers, Drivers will not be designed or created.
Full Vista Support that's the target, and to be correct the new platform will be supporting the chipset, memory, and the turbo memory to the full 100% performance.

We have discussed how the turbo memory is not necessary when you have 2GB and more, how different is this new turbo memory for JFL92 that it is required?
