As many of you are considering the LS notebook, I just purchased it. In fact, I was at Best Buy and they informed me that it will be discontinued and I was able/had to buy their display model. I determined that saving 10% was worth it and I ended up paying $989.99 plus tax, but RewardZone cuts the tax a bit--taking almost 4% off the bill. Anyway, I am reformatting it as I speak because I never like the junk that they put on it. Overall, it looks like a great computer and I am looking forward to using it more. As I use it, I will try to post additional comments, etc. One interesting thing that Best Buy did was they put a magnetic strip in the CD drive and I didn't notice it so I thought the CD drive was broken. It was not working and then I realized that the strip was slowing the CD down. I easily solved this problem by taking it off carefully.

There has been a problem. After reinstalling the operating system and installing all updates (to get rid of all the extra junk they install), I no longer have the ability to put the computer into standby. I read that this is because a driver is not correctly configured or a component is not capable of standby mode, but this laptop, like all current laptops, are able to use standby mode. What should I try?

That's weird...I'd scour their disks for some documentation on this.

Something is seriously not right! I have pretty much never had any spyware or anything like that but after formatting and getting most of my applications installed that I typically like on my computers, I noticed this stupid search bar on Internet Explorer. Immediately I decided that I absolutely had to reformat because that stuff is unacceptable for me. I don't run any anti-virus or spyware programs, either, and I don't want to start just to remove it. I really wish I knew where it came from. It may have been from something I installed.

Now to the real issue: I really want to get Standby working! After reformatting again it still does not allow me to use standby. Even after installing every driver from the included CD, I cannot enter standby. Is there a way to check what piece of hardware is causing the problem?

Wow! I have some great news. I don't know if anyone else was having the stand by problem, but all I had to do was reset the BIOS settings to the default and it updated the USB controller card and I was then able to use stand by. Now all I have to hope for is that the spyware doesn't come back. If it does, I don't have any clue what I'll do!

Anybody know why the model was discontinued? Was it stopped entirely or will it just no longer be produced here in North America?

Not sure, I don't see them in our local Best Buy any longer.

Realize that MSI made this 12" laptop and Medion simply rebranded it. I think this laptop is one of the best PC laptops out there for its amazing style and design and I really like the white color. I have heard nothing but positive things about my laptop and I'm not surprised. When I first saw it at Best Buy, I knew it was a great piece of hardware and the specs/price are also great. Msi did a great job with this laptop.
