Possible for you to make the picture about 5x bigger? also, they are both nvidia cards based on the same chipset. I don't think an update would be required.

Well currently i have no nvidia drivers installed, when i install the downloaded 334.89 update from geforce website...i get "Unfortunately we were unable to detect your GPU".
I tried installing with a modded INF file, however on boot it gets stuck after the windows splash screen indefinitely.

Small world. I have the PowerPro version of that laptop (MS-1762) and I had the exact same problem. I started with a 680M and it died so I decided to upgrade to the 780M and it wouldn't work right. The driver wouldn't see the card and the screen was 640x480 and 256 colors. I flashed the VBios to the MSI version (Which is something you should try) and now the card is recognised but I can't login to Win7 without my laptop freezing.

I got my vbios from techpowerup.com and used NVFlash with an MSDOS boot drive. Let me know if it helps your problem and don't forget to backup your original VBios if it makes things worse.
