I dual boot between xp and vista. In xp, if I leave the PC on for a while, the screens turn off (the back light, too). It will not come back on when I move the mouse or hit the key. I can hit the power button once, and you can tell WinXP is still responding as it shuts down like normal. Closing and opening the lid won't work (this appears to work on my brother's Toshiba x205, which coincidently also have the same issue except that it could be resolved with a lid open/close routine).

The only way for me to bring it back up without loosing data is put it to sleep (fn +F1 key), and then wake it back up. This is getting anoying.

My power management is set to never sleep, never turn off monitor, and pretty much always on. I have no idea why this happens!

I'm pretty sure this is a well-documented problem because I've seen it in some of the threads here.

I believe there's a XP hotfix that deals with the sleep issue and not being able to wake up. Try searching MS's website or something for a XP sleep hotfix.

Perhaps someone who has dealt with this or knows what's going on can speak specifically, but I'm pretty sure there's a quick and simple fix. If not...use Vista more?

    Good luck. :)

I just asked him, and it's gone after format. I guess it was because he installed my drivers, try finding latest drivers.

I the same isue like you brother on my IFL90.

If the screen shuts down (due to power saving setting) and if I move the mouse /type on the keyboard after a short time (10-20 min) the screen wakes up OK, but after more than cca 30min I have to cloase and open the lid to wake the screen.

As you mentioned windows is working OK the whole time.

Except when I close and open the lid, it won't wake up. In the BIOS, I don't see any Power Management settings - it's actually pretty void of features. :(

As for drivers, I am using nVidia driver version 6.14.11.6376, which is dated 10/5/2007.

I could try to go and see if there is a newer driver at laptopvideo2go again...

For MS download yes, because it's a patch that does not apply to all systems, just certain laptops with Dual Core processors.
But if you look for the KB number you can download it from somewhere else..I needed a spanish version of the patch so I downloaded the whole "all languages" package from Intel downloadcenter.
MS email with link and passwd came 2 days after I used the Intel ones.
