I'm looking at these two systems (compared to Sager systems @ PCTorque and the Hypersonics are less expensive).

The main differences in configuration are as follows:
    MV7: 2.16Ghz Core2Duo 4MB L2 | nVidia GeForce Go 7600 256Mb | 16x8x DVD+-R Dual Layer Lightscribe & DVD-RAM | Intel Pro a/b/g Wireless w/ bluetooth
    $2230

    CX7: 1.83Ghz Core2Duo 2MB L2 | nVidia GeForce Go 7950 512Mb | 8x DVD+-R Dual Layer | Internal a/g wireless w/ bluetooth
    $2560

I have both configured with 2Gb of the low-latency RAM (is low-latency worth the $46 difference?), 80Gb 7200rpm HDD, and the 17" WSXGA+ 1680x1050 display. On the CX7 I can upgrade the display to 1920x1200 for $52. Is that worth it?

Thoughts or opinions on these two? Main uses: business apps, net surfing, and, when I get to take this baby home in the evening, gaming.

The CX7 will be quite a bit better at games. The t7400 is the sweet spot for C2D processors (price vs. performance) As far as memory is concerned, that is personal preference. You probably won't see any noticeable performance difference. As far as the display goes, it's largely personal preference. Some like to have a lot of screen real estate, others prefer to have lower resolution. If possible I'd consider checking out the various screen sizes and resolutions in a store before you buy. Personally I'd get the extra pixels, but I like a lot of space.

Neither computer will a slouch at gaming, it depends on how hardcore you are. Either will blow through business apps and the web. Be aware that a 17inch isn't really portable and if you will be moving the computer around you might want to consider a smaller form-factor. You can get up to the 7600 in a 15.4 inch package. The 7950 is the fastest mobile card out right now.

    cheers

you should post this at the Sager forum, they have the same notebooks.

I would definitely recommend the Clevo M570U (Aviator CX7 or Sager 5760), its the best 17" gaming notebook on the market.
