Hi -
I am contemplating on getting the compal hel-80 or hp dv6000t. I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...70036439602&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1
This seems pretty good in terms of specs and is cheaper than any other places i've configured with the same specs.
So what do you think? It doesn't have an OS, but i have my own disks already.
Thanks
Jeff

I think this price is fairly average with many other resellers http://www.mwave.com/mwave/shoppingcart.asp?scriteria=&UpDepts=&DName=&Back=&Bname=
The model pictured is most certainly the VBI version, especially with 2 year warranty. http://www.rjtech.com sells this for example. Two things to note..Mwave and other resellers will give you a 9 cell battery in the NON-VBI versions..not 6 cell as is here... that will nearly double your mobil run time. Also the screen is 1200 x 800 glossy, not 1600 x 1200 matte. If this is an issue for you, and this ebay seller can't offer it.. then you're at a dead end. It's a fair price, but not a HOT deal -
Hi -
Thanks for the advice. I actually prefer the 6-cell, don't like the 9-cell sticking out in the back. Also, the 1200 x 800 glossy is fine with me.
Still debating though about it as I can't try it out first hand.

let the debate rage on.. i'm still debating myself. But i took a shopping trip to check out notebooks and came up with these conclusions. As I need a notebook for graphical work, adobe products, dreamweaver suite, sound production etc., i can't do with a 12 or 13 inch. 14 is passable, but 15.4 is little more in comparison and worth it, 17.. too much..too heavy...IMO. I also can't stand glossy screens which are on every notebook i've seen so far, minus the MacbookPro. I will be purchasing a Hel80 with Matte screen, Or a MacbookPro if i get some kinda bonus.

Most resellers have very good return policies, so you can always return a system you don't like. If you limit your choices to those you can see in person, you won't have many viable options to choose from unless you are a very basic user with low standards.
How is this hel-80?
