I bought my very first laptop online 2 months ago and I settled for an averatec, mostly because of the features vs. price. I never thought of asking the seller about warranty or the like until last Wednesday when I spilled some soda on the keyboard. I found out then that the warranty was out and that there was no way to find the part number on the bottom (which has erased out [:0] What kind of ink did they use on that sticker anyway?).
To make the long story short, the keyboard is not working (except a few times when it will respond for a couple of minutes) and the mouse also has developed "behavioral problems". It will work normally for a while, then start selecting everything near the icon where I single or double-click. Everything else besides seems to be working fine.
After calling Averatec, I was told that it would cost me between $200 to $500 to Look at it, depending on the nature of the problem [:0]
After hearing that, I decided I could try cleaning the keyboard myself to see if it would take care of the problem. If that doesn't work I will have to send it in for service. Does anybody know how to get the keyboard out? Don't even mention the manual, it is of no help. Thanks very much for any kind of help, advice [ :)]

There should be screws on the bottom to release the latch that holds it in.
