    Does anyone know anything about the CMOS battery? Mine arrived dead about a year ago, and I never bothered to return it or fix it due to my being so busy. PLease help me with the cmos battery, location on the motherboard and ease of getting to it. What type it is, Can it be fixed or recharged?

    Thanks in advance.

    it's a normal battery afaik, it's located in the bottom right right next to your harddisk, but I'm afraid you'd have to dissasemble your laptop to reach it.

    cheers,

    I would need a part number or something.

    It's a pretty standard battery, probably could get it at your local clockworkers or the like...

    About disassembly,well, there's a good hel80 disassembly guide at hand:

    http://www.asimobile.com/notebook_files/el80/guides/EL80_ch5-Disassembly Guide-Intel.pdf

    Look there for how much dissasembly would be needed.

    EDIT: hmm, the more i look at this guide now, it could be that I have messed up the two laptops I've had in the past, that is mistook some of the disassembly of a toshiba tecra 9100 with this compal.. I'd say I'm somewhat sure there was a battery sitting there in the compal but now I am not that sure anymore ;)

    Regards,

    //m.

    Yea, the more I ask people about the cmos battery, the less I find people actually know. Its really a touchy subject for hel-80 owners it seems. I jsut want a sure answer, Been asking for about 9 months now.
