the 8600m is ddr2 and no, nothing higher.

I personally cant advice you to buy a zepto, if I were to buy a new I really wouldnt... Ive had 3 zeptos along the way, the first was VERY good, 2nd has heat issues and the third here.. its just sad.. heat is a problem, build quality is a problem, the 8600m is running like a dead fish... My older laptop with a 7600m runs games smoother!! true the 8600 gets better score in like 3dmark and all, but real gameplay is just sad. Wow runs better on the older 7600.

So basicly! DO NOT BUY a zepto, its just not worth the risk of getting something ****ed.

    I couldn't agree more!
I have currently put my Zepto up for sale, and won't ever be getting a Zepto again.
I waited SO long for the 6224w to become available for sale, and it has been nothing but a disappointment since I actually got one.

I'm on this band wagon: I've had 2 Zeptos, an old 4200 which was great
for what it was, and our new 6625wd, which has had issues ranging from
poor build quality to hard-drive issues. Recently I've had a plague of
failed boots which are leading me to looking elsewhere for a new laptop.

If you're going for a gaming laptop, only one choice in my opinion: Alien.

I believe Zepto is likely to come out with a new fully fledged gaming laptop
but this is really just a guess. I also believe it's a good company, but their
current lineup of top ends are lacking. On the plus side my experience
with their customer service has been very, very good.

    Good luck!

I have no problems with zepto either. This is my first laptop from them and apart from the graphics card heatsink not being fitted very well, I've no problems at all.

I've got a 6224w, and have been pretty happy using it as a gaming laptop (mainly teamfortress 2)

I've had a 6625WD for more than half a year now. And it is a great laptop. No heath issues, no hard drive issues, no issues whatsoever. Many games from 2006 or older will run on the highest settins on the 1680x1050 resolution. Newer games will run with a mix of medium and high on 1280x1024. (Using the 169.04 drivers, I can run Crysis really smoothly using 1280x1024 and a mix of medium, high and very high. And the newest drivers, which I have yet to test, run the game even smoother (174.31 drivers)).

I can't really get it. I think both UT3 and Crysis is totally unplayable on these laptops. What do you mean by "smoothly"? In what fps-range can you play Crysis for example?

I agree.. Crysis ran extremely bad on my laptop, and ut3 is like a joke. I know they are very demanding games, and thats fine by me.. but reading about people playing crysis smoothly is just.. well i guess the word "smoothly" is thought of differently among people.

Yeah... exactly what I mean! and I know those games are really performance demanding. But a 10-30 fps is NOT smooth. :)

I have 6224w with the orginal zepto driver 167.59 andI ran UT3 on the second highest graphic option, in the resolution 1280*800 with 30-45 fps. I mean zepto is great for gaming if you can accept lower graphic options and a smooth fps.

You can change 'I mean Zepto' into 'I mean the GO8600M GT' I think :)

No thanks the thing.. I do not belive all these issues has anything to do with the 8600m gt, but with zeptos bios binding the chipset and gpu together.

fps wise my 8600m performance as expected.. but its no way near smooth compared to my older 7600m.

Iv had no problems whatsoever with my 6625wd bought in august, and it runs high end games on med with 1240x1050.
I play BF2 PR on med with res 1450x1050 with fps 45 (limited there, would go up to 60+ but it causes swings).
    Havent tested crysis though.
(Oh and Iv got stuff installed wich eat up resources wich cant be turned off (MSSQL server and more))

I agree. The funny thing about Crysis is that a lot of people have temporarily changed their definition of 'playable' so they can fool themselves into thinking they can play it at 'high' or whatever. Not just talking about this laptop, but in general, desktop gamers too.

I have heard a lot of people say 'Crysis runs great on high, 30FPS average' or something like that.... 30FPS average is NOT acceptable (imo) because if that's the average, it means the game drops below that every time something demanding happens.. dropping down to 15-20FPS (or worse) every time you get in a firefight or whatever. That is NOT a good framerate.
