    Hello,

I dont have the laptop but I will translate what the first user wrote about his new 6224W. The original text if from Crescends and can be found here. Text that is in brackets ( ) was added/commented by me.

    Fans:
During the windows installation the fans running high and blowing alot of air. You can feel the hot air coming out. The fans are not too noisy. After windows has been installed the fans run at a low, constant level. (Fans will hopefully be quite when running windows and some sort of fan control)

    The Display:
The display is clear even at the windows installer resolution. Good viewing angles and the anti reflective layer looks good. (I put pictures in another thread)

    Build:
The build is the same as discribed in the various 6124W reviews. The display has some flex and the body is made of solid plastic.

    Bios:
Has alot of option and even Vanderpool is supported ( Intel VT) but there is nothing that allowes overclocking.

Installing XP and Vista was no problem.
Linux live DVDs ,Ubuntu 7.4, 6.10 and Knoppix 5.2 all dont start. (maybe a new version will support it better once SR is more widely used)

Nothing interesting yet. No benchmarks, no battery info, no pictures.

I think most people got their laptop without windows and spend most of yesterday setting it up. Maybe more details today.

    I just found this:

Can someone please translate this? (wave :p) It's from the Zepto German forums, this dude got his 6224W...

If I'm not mistaken he says he used the earlier nVidia drivers because the newest ones didn't support standby or something. He also says the speakers are ok for a laptop. The laptop seems to run at about 47-50 celcius when idle and 70-80 when playing, or using 3D applications. The LED lights are really strong in the dark and sting the eyes (maybe I'm wrong) and he thinks it should have some plastic over it or something. The WLAN strength it really good. The laptop (with old drivers) scores 3800 points in 3DMark 06 at 1024x768 resolution.

he went from the 160 nvidia drivers back to the 100 nvidia drivers that where on the Zepto cd. The 160 version didnt work for standby.
The battery lasts over 2 hours while surfing the web and installing things.
The speakers are ok for laptop speakers but he likes his 5.1 sound system better for playing musik (who doesnt....?)

RMclock shows 47-54° CPU temp. when idle and 70-80° when gameing.

The status LEDs are bright. He is thinking about putting a sticker on the power button so it is less bright.

Wifi is great, much better range then a USB stick wifi he has.

    3dMark06 1024x768 = 3800 with the 100 version drivers.

    A little hot, isnt it?

And a little low score in 3dmark. Hope its the 100 drivers fault.

3800 in 3DMark 06 with a laptop isn't bad, it's actually pretty good. It's along the lines of Mobility RADEONX1900 and Go7900GS, also considering this is using older drivers.

Cool. Mine runs at 90 while gaming intensive, and doesn't budge (has never frozen for that reason).

The guy who made this small review had a T7300 and DDR2-677, the Zepto benchmark is made using a T7500 and DDR2-800 which has faster processor and memory timings. The ASUS G1s scores with the specs of T7500 and DDR2-667 and 8600M GT GDDR3 about 4500 points, about 400 points more because of GDDR3.

first problems are being reported. I wont call any of them bugs but this is what people are talking about:

    1. At first the fan control works fine. But after a few times rebooting the fan is constantly on at medium/high speed. One user fixed it by:
DTScalibration -> Disabled in the biossettings. I dont really know what that is.

    2. Noise is being reported with the audio out/earphone plug. When there is no sound being played there is alot of background noise.

hmm...looks like they did improve the cooling then, given its the new 6224 and ur sigs the 15 incher 6615...

...so hopefully they applied changes to the newer 6625 as well and not just left it as the 6615...

    Battey test:
Idle laptop with lowest brightness, wifi off: 2h20 till 4% remaining.

hopefully it will get better after the battery has been charged a few times.

    I believe DTS calibration is:
    Distributed Temperature Sensor calibration.
