When my Actius RD3D is plugged into the charger, my videos run full speed on screen. When I unplug the charger, they slow down to 5-6 frames per second, YUCK.

I have set all the settings in Windows XP that I can find, to no avail.

I don't care if the battery only lasts 20 minutes, I NEED full speed for short client presentations in 3D !

    HELP !

    Sharp Actius RD3D laptop
    2.78 GHz processor
    3D/2D display 1024 x 768
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    GeForce4 440 Go 64M

I have set all the System speeds, and the Graphics card speeds, to no avail.

If I play a movie, it plays at 25 frames per second when the A/C is connected. When I remove the charger connector from the laptop (not the A/C plug), the movie plays fine for 3/4 second, then slows down to 8 fps.

If I put the charger connector back in, after 3/4 second the movie speeds up to normal 25 fps.

In fact, the whole system slows down when on Battery power.

I even downloaded Speedswitch XP and set everything to Max Performance. No luck. Didn't change a thing.

Hm, it must be something with the power management. Did you check the BIOS? Maybe there is some setting that underclocks everything on battery power. Did you monitor the CPU speed and GPU speed when it happens?

I tried Speedswitch XP to force max speed in all cases, and it reports that the laptop is running at 2.7 GHz (full speed) when under battery power, but it is clearly NOT.

Any particular instructions you can give me? Thanks.

BTW- The laptop continues to run at full speed for 3/4 sec after I remove the charger cord, and takes 3/4 sec to speed up again after I plug it back in...

Then it must be your video card? Try Omega Drivers...

    Thanks!

Yes, I was beginning to think that the video driver was the problem. But all it's settings are "Max Performance", but could be buggy.

However, because it is a Stereoscopic Display (lenticular autostereoscopic) which requires no glasses, just putting your head/eyes in the right place in front of the screen, the drivers are probably special purpose.

I have gotten an answer from Sharp in Calif. USA - "We don't know, we are asking the designers at Sharp in Japan"

I think I'd better wait now for their reply before I screw it up!
