ouch, that looks unsightly, but i assume the screen is still being held up.

try gluing it back on? :p

but yeah, see if the warranty covers that. or just buy a replacement front panel if thats possible.

The effect of the broken hinge isn't big (you can move the screen +- 0.5cm at the left bottom, that's pretty much it), but I want to get it fixed because I figure the other hinge is under much more stress now.

I don't know how much warranty I have actually. I hope 2 years, because the notebook's 1½ years old. I'll check the disassembly guide I have on my hard drive somewhere to see if it's easily fixable :).

you just change the hinge. you remove it from the lcd panel case and put in a new one. I think you can get the hinges with reasonable ease, dunno where from tho. I mean, you can with other makes, so why not with the compals? they're pretty popular machines :)

I'll contact my reseller tomorrow (or today actually). It's quite hard to change the hinges, but it's not impossible as far as I can tell.

They have to send the laptop back :( . But the good news: they're giving me a spare barebone they had there (HEL81... so no gfx card and webcam) while my lappy is gone, with all my components in! For free! That's awesome, me thinks.
