A mate of mine has the Compal JFW91 and is just looking into what cpus can be used to upgrade his machine.
I have the IFL90 and will possibly update as well at some point.
Also can the cpu be replaced without totally taking the laptop to pieces i.e. when you take the compartment cover off showing the fan and heat pipe, can it be done from there?
Thanks

Check what chipset is in the notebook(s) and then see what processor they support.
Here:
JFW91 - Chipset http://www.sis.com/products/sism672.htm(basicly Intel Merom, check wikipedia)
IFL90 - same CPU's http://www.intel.com/Products/Notebook/Chipsets/PM965/PM965-overview.htm
Merom http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?codeName=2683

Thanks, a great help

About replacing CPU, don't know if you can do that just by opening the cover but probably yes. And that means voiding warranty.

Yeah, well assuming it's not second hand, right?
