Any reviews on this notebook or sites that post this? Just bought it recently. Seems reasonable for the price. Performance is good except for quality. A bit dubious re the casing.

Well, off the CompUSA website, I found this:

    3360-EG1 Notebook
Intel Pentium M Processor 725, 1.6GHz, with Centrino Technology, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 12.1-inch XGA TFT Display, 4X DVD+/-RW Drive, Windows XP Professional Intel Logo
    Manufacturer: Averatec
    Mfg Part #: AV3360-EG1
    Product Number: 317885

CompUSA has it listed for $1199, after a $75 mail-in rebate.

That's an awfully small display, although the small size can be an upside, too. It seems that Averatec focuses on somewhat smaller notebooks than the competition...probably helps them save money.

newegg.com had the Acer4502LMI (very comparable in specs) selling for $1149, with a 15" XGA screen...of course, now it is out of stock!

That's the correct model. Bought it from Compusa a week ago with $275 rebate so final price was about $999.Wanted a 12 inch with Centrino techno. Pretty good wireless reception and I'm pretty happy with it.Was advised by staff to get extended warranty as prone to battery charger damage/breaking off leading to motherboard damage. Declined as I had been scouring forums/reviews over various brands prior to this. However I have never owned an Averatec before so was anxious for some reviews/feedback but found none on this particular model except for the specs on their website. Any comments would be appreciated.

I cant speak to that exact model, but i've been really damn impressed with the Averatec brand over all. For the money, you get a pretty fast, pretty loaded system. But, I do wish they felt more durable...the screen side seems a bit flimsy, but i've no issues with cracks and I do use mine daily.

Battery life for the 3360-EG1 was about 2.5-3+ hours depending on what you are using it for. Had been using it daily and I must say I'm quite impressed. My only comparison is to the IBM T42 notebook that my college son has lifted off me recently so my reservations could be quite biased. I noticed that Compusa has a new Sony S360 for $1649.99 (after $250 rebate) with slighty better specs to this model. My only concern is that I could not find any reviews and some owners had complained about the bad/little customer service from Averatec.

only 3 hours ? People were getting about 2 hours and a half with the model that had the 2200+ (32xx) . I though you could get waayyy more with a pentium-m ..

i work at compusa and ive seen these come back because of bad screens. its kinda of funny but crappy in the end. i sold one to a guy that came back and then gave him a new one and he came back and the same thing. so he went with an HP and took the warranty plan because he declined it the first time

Gee! that sounds bad. So far, I have been lucky, no complaints. The battery life is good for 3 1/2+ hours for surfing, email and reports. Obviously, there are more cons for such a budget notebook ie cheap case and not too fancy keypad but good value for its money.
