With difficulty and no instruction book I have managed to disassemble my Averatec 2300 almost entirely, trying to get to the power jack to resolder it. There is one remaining screw behind the CDROM. I do not know how to take out the CDROM to get at the screw, and am concerned that I might break the CDROM if I use trial and error. Can someone please tell me how to remove the CDROM?
Also, if anyone has a good source for disassembly instructions, either with or without pictures, for the 2300, I would appreciate knowing it.

This is a quick reply. In the area of the Wi-Fi module, you should find a single screw (lies parallel to the keyboard, rather than perpendicular like most case screws) going through the support rib (supports the user access hatch) into the back of the optical drive, about center with the optical drive.
Remove this screw and gently pull the drive out of the case. The only remaining thing is friction between the drive and the notebook case. There is no data cable or the like to worry about. -

I just completely disassembled my 2370 today in an effort to fix the power jack. There are two screws that secure the CDROM bracket to the frame. One on the outside of the back of the laptop and the other under the back cover just behind the RAM. They are both oriented perpendicular. The screw that is parallel screw on the back of the CD Rom just above the wifi module secures the bracket to the CDRom. By trial and error, I unscrewed the bracket from the frame first. Then while trying to unscrew the parallel screw, I applied pressure attempting to unscrew it and to my suprise, the CDRom and braket just slide out easily without unscrewing that screw. I realized then that it could be removed either way. I suppose if you were just removing the cdrom, then unscerwing the parallel screw above the wifi module would be the easiest way - you just have to reove that one screw. With disassembling, removing the two screws holding the bracket and leaving the bracket attached and then just putting pressure on the third parallel screw is the easiest.
