Here's a retailer selling the newly released Averatec 1050 for only $990. I've only seen this model sold at CompUSA for $1380.

Hi, too bad I missed the 699$ deal at CompUSA. Any idea if there is a retailer somewhere out there in the web that offers the same price or any other promotion in that price range that u experts :) - I am not - are aware of? THANKS!

Remember that the $699 one was for the 1020, the Celeron version. The 1050 is the Pentium M version. $990 is a good deal considering this notebook used to sell for $1380 at CompUSA. Their website no longer lists it and they said they've sold out on the unit and may not get any more.

    HI, Thanks for the hint.
Now I found following Averatec notebook at refurbdepot.com for 797$.
AVERATEC AV6210HX80, is that identical with the 1050?

Not even remotely close. The 6120 is a 15.4" desktop replacement-style notebook with a Mobile Sempron processor. The 1050 is a 10.6" ultraportable with a Pentium-M ULV processor.

I know this is an old post, but I've been shopping for one of these when I came across this post.

Their site doesn't state it but these are refurb units. I called them and they said that's all they sell. They do offer the standard refurb warranty of 90 days through the seller, all sales final. If you're in the area, they do allow you to come into their warehouse to inspect the unit before purchasing. The price is up to $999 and the site show it being in stock now.

Interesting. I called the number on the website and got a company that imports Mexican products. I'm glad I went with Costco on this one.
