I would wonder if one could open up the laptop and replace it with the Pentium M ULV 733 or whatever is in the 1050..should still be under 1k after that, right? Does anyone know if Celeron M and Pentium M ULV use the same socket? Or if the 1020 and 1050 mobos are the same?

I think I'll pick one up if that turns out to be true. However I have a feeling that sort of frankenstein laptop wouldnt have the battery saving power (oxymoron?) that the Centrino setup would because of the laptop as a whole doesnt have the "Centrino approach" to building the laptop

This is the second time in less than 5 minutes that I've edited this post

This motherboard supposedly supports both the celeron m and pentium m cpu....hmmmm.....

Why do you call it a Frankenstein laptop? The motherboard you put in your link isn't the one in this notebook.

yea i know, and i call it a frankenstein laptop cuz it would be using a CPU from a different computer. I did a couple of searches in the hardware section and it said that its not a good idea to try to fit in a Pentium m cpu into a laptop that originally had a celeron m, something about it being more time/trouble/money than its worth :(
