Currenty all P1 Vista Machines will ship with Service Pack 1

We are testing our SOny images now with SP1 and should release on all SZ's and TZ's shortly.

And one of the things I noticed instantly is that OS reports 4GB w/SP1 if machine has 4GB installed eventhough its 32bit OS :)

Even though it reports 4GB, you cannot actually use all 4GB...don't let that fool you.

At least it'll stop the "where's my memory" questions.

Very true...but I think more than anything the consumer is going to suffer for this...they'll all think 4GB will work and buy more memory.

To be honest, I'm guessing that we're all moving to 64 bit very soon, as 2 GB is becoming the lower-end mainstream and 3 GB is moving mainstream.

It would be nice...but as long as MS offers a 32bit version, there will be enough lazy developers to force 32bit to remain the mainstream choice. Some stuff that is still on store shelves today do not support 64bit (for example: Foxit PDF Creator, Pinnacle PCTV To Go HD Wireless, most of Pinnacle's products, many of Hauppauge's products, several scanners and printers that I know of)...see what I mean?

If there is only a 64bit option, then 64bit will win...otherwise, it is going to take some serious backlash from consumers against MS and all companies who do not offer 64bit alternatives.
