my znote 6625wd only came back for a couple of months from repairs because my gfx card died, but now i had the exact same problem. When i returned to my computer he fell in standby mode and the screen remained black. I couldn´t restart the computerm so the chip died on me. The main problem now is that my warranty expired at the end of june. Do people at zepto fix 8600m gt chips for free or do they have some sort of ¨if you computer breaks again by the same problem return policy" thingy?

my notebook returned from repair services half way juli. So it ran stable untill yesterday

I can only speak for the Danish rules, but if the gfx card has been replaced once by warranty and it fails again, you are covered by warranty as the warranty on the exactly replaced components are reset.

Many other things could cause a black screen, inverter failure being one.

I would recommend you connect to an external monitor, try to boot into the BIOS and see if anything shows in the screen.

tried that, but the external monitor won´t do . But it´s exacly the same problem as before. Last time they replaced the geforce 8600gt so i expect it to be the gfxcard again. thx for the replies :)

Lol, I have the exact same problem. My GFX died on me just 2 weeks after the warranty period expired... strange huh?

yeah i still had warranty on the gfx. the infocare webpage says the repair was finished en is returned. Didn´t get an email or sms, also haven´t received a ups tracking number yet, but by the looks of it, it seems it got repaired rather quick. Hope to get the machine back by tuesday

Hope it works out well for you Anguslord...

Have to say it's rather.. unnerving seeing all these broken 8600M GTs.

Since my warranty's expired a long time ago, in case mine broke also, would anyone have an idea about what GPU would work in 6625WD?

I tried looking up it's slot specification, apparently it's a MXM-II. Wondering if I could just popin any odd mxm-ii i find on ebay to make it work..

@alliao, maybe you should try the oven trick on that card before you throw it out?

Haha, i checked the oven trick, sounds to good to be true... :p

If your geforce 8600gt should brake, try contacting rep at zepto. If you are positive its the gfx card they might replace it for free. I´ve read that zepto recognizes the problem and gives extra warranty on the gfxcard. Not sure though...

Btw, just in case: after my first gfxcard crash i tried to open the backcover of the notebook. but the rear end wouldn´t come off. Does anyone know where the hidden screw is in the back of the machine?

It's not broken yet *knocks wood*. Just thought I'd be slightly more prepared :)

Don't have my camera with me now, but i remember to take it off, I remove the keyboard first, then flip it face down unscrewed the screws behind the battery and the outer screws in the corner(there're 2). And the screws in the back.

These should let u remove the panel with LED and power switch. Then you can unplug the antenna and lcd cable to free the LCD panel..

    alliao, one more question.

Since the day i got my machine a couple of years ago, the screen has been flickering when it's turned off. It's black and every 10-15 secs there is a little white flash in the screen... i have no idea whats causing it, but it was still there after my first geforce 8600gt repair. Not so annoying though, because i close my notebook when i'm done.

edit: by tonight my zepto 6625wd should be back from warranty :) yeey
