according to a report from Digitimes.com, a Taiwanese news site that covers computer industry news and manufacturing in Taiwan and China, notebook prices have been steady for the past year and manufacturers do not intend to drop prices:

Never fear. As soon as I buy mine the prices will plummet!

It happens without fail on every piece of computer stuff I get. When I bought my printer years ago, printer prices had been steady for a year and then the bottem dropped out..........after my purchase of course.[ :(]

I wouldn't mind if they keep the price levels and they keep updating the hardware as per new components being released - creating standards like powerfull processors, DVD-RW, 512 MB RAM, large 5400 HDDs, and 15-15.4" 1400x1050 screens.

On the other hand, people always buy extended warranty even from renoun manufacturers, and if you don't make crappy laptops, you still put those money in your pocket at the end of the day.
