Network drives or "cloud storage" have become extremely popular with laptop users who need to access huge amounts of data but might not have enough storage space inside their notebook or netbook hard drive. We've reviewed many Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, but what if you don't have the budget (or the technical skills) needed to purchase and setup a home or small business network drive? ZumoDrive comes to the rescue with what they call "Hybrid Cloud" storage that promises to deliver high speed network storage without the expense or headaches of setting up your own network drive.

Thanks again, Jerry, for another great review.

Would you happen to have any experience with other online storage services such as Mozy? I don't think Mozy can perform like a regular hard drive/partition on your computer, but it seems like a much more economical alternative than ZumoDrive.

Mozy is a great automated backup app/service that gives you unlimited storage for $4.99 per computer (keep in mind that every computer using Mozy is an additional fee). However, Mozy requires a network connection to do anything.

Mozy doesn't create a "drive" on your computer the way that ZumoDrive does. With Mozy you install their software on your computer, then check the boxes next to the backup selections/types of files you want to back up. Then you use your computer like normal. The Mozy software then monitor's your hard drive and automatically creates a backup based on your settings.

In order for the Mozy software to backup your files or allow you to access your backups you have to have an internet connection.

ZumoDrive creates a "virtual" drive on your computer and saves some of the files locally on your computer so that you have access to your frequently used files even when you're offline. Then, when you're connected it will automatically backup and sync any files that you stored to the ZumoDrive.

Thanks for the review, I think I'll sign up for the free 1gb just to easily share files between my two laptops if I don't have them next to each other.
