WiMAX Now Available on Select Dells Studio XPS & Studio
A WiMAX mobile broadband module is now available on several Dell notebooks, including the Studio 15 and 17 and Studio XPS 16. The Intel 5150 WiMAX Wireless-N combo card is a $60 option. WiMAX provides long-range mobile broadband Internet service with a subscription. Theoretically users should be able to connect to the Internet anywhere with WiMAX but naturally the range and coverage is limited. WiMAX has a maximum download/upload rates of 13Mbps/3Mbps.

Is there is a separate module available? if yea, can this be used in any laptop? I have a Dell Vostro 1500 and an HP Compaq 6720.

I would assume the module is mini-PCI-e, which most modern laptops have, so it would fit. However, the question is what kind of antennas does this card need . . . if you do not have the proper antennas, then the card will probably be almost useless due to lack of range.
