I had to chuckle when I saw this report, a $599/$699 notebook that's going to be branded by the behemoth sized retail/supermarket chain:

hopefully the milk you purchase doesn't leak onto it while on the way home.

Went to the Elitegroup website, they sure offer a lot of laptops. Wonder who has actually had one of these.

i wouldn't be surprised if they offered decent specs, given how big of a corporation wallmart is. still laughable though.

ECS, inspiring. I bet XP flies with that 128 MB RAM. Watch out everyone, my ECS is going online!

I saw the ECS G900 notebook and that got me interested in buying one and I contacted them about purchasing one but they weren't available in the USA yet. I started looking around for laptops in the same category 17 inch Monitor desktop replacement and I just couldn't wait and found lots of good things about Sager notebooks. I couldn't decide between the Sager NP4780 which C-Net rated real high and the NP8790. In the end i chose the cheaper 4780 with 1440x900 res with a camera, Tv tuner, Wireless card, dvd r+/w, Pentium 4 3.2 with 1 gig ram.

Actually I have a ECS Desknote A928 that I bought at a local computer show about 2 years ago. It has a 1.8 ghz pentium 4 processor with 512 meg ram, 15 inch 1024x768 screen with 64 meg ram DDR, 512 meg ram, 30 gig hd, 24x cd RW. Its not a bad machine but recently I upgraded to a desktop replacement from Sager. I was actually looking at ECS G900 but their product wasn't available in the USA and I just couldn't wait and Sager was a decent price.
