The question is will it be available publicly, or just to MSDN/TechNet subscribers?

Reading a little further in MJ's post: "the final version of Vista SP1 is sounding like November 2007." And, later on, she writes that if the final version is released in November "it will have been in beta for an unusually short four months."

So the July version may just be to developers.

Well, even if it's only for MSDN subscribers something this big is bound to leak within the first 24 hours.

They'll probably do what they did with SP2, have it as a beta for everyone. Knowing they way MS has been live Beta Testing with end users so much, they'll probably do it

They might have been testing SP1 alpha/beta internally after Microsoft shipped Vista after its release. There was a screenshot of build 6.1 Vista named as "Vista SP1 Preview", but i can't seem to find the hyperlink on the net :(.

LOL. I think the final release is scheduled for 2009... they're calling it Vienna I think.

All I have to say is I'll believe it when I see it. There is too much speculation IMHO about when SP1 for vista is coming...

If past memories serve me correctly, Vista was quite a few years late. Maybe SP1 will be a few years late too :p

Hopefully Microsoft isn't stupid enough to repeat that blunder. I think this one will be out by Christmas time at latest.

I greatly hope, for the sake of Microsoft, that SP1 is a big improvement, with some of the features they deleted from the original release to get it out sooner (though still a year or so late).

You aren't the only one looking for major improvements. I went back to XP, and I'd love to switch back to Vista...provided the major bugs get worked out.

I also know of two people who are currently not upgrading three machines to Vista on my recommendations alone...I told them to wait until SP1 comes out and give it a few months (while I test it...I will re-install Vista on a temporary basis to test the pack) before jumping too.
