I'm gonna toss my two cents in here even though my ThinkPad isn't technically a T61. I have an R61 14.1" that I've been using about two months now and, with the exception of Broadband and Wireless USB (on 15.4" only, I think), my R61 is a twin to the T61 of the same size. I originally wanted a T61, but once I realized the R61 offered everything I wanted (including nVIDIA discrete graphics and WXGA+ display option), it was too good of a deal to pass up.
I'm in love with this thing. I haven't had a ThinkPad in about five years, but the familiarity, durability and overall performance/reliability make me wonder how I managed without one. It reminds me a lot of how Honda/Acura vehicles used to be- if you were familiar with one model, it'd take about ten seconds to be comfortable in any of their other vehicles. Some may find such consistency boring, but there are plenty more of us who don't see the need to fix something when it isn't broken!!! If only Microsoft had taken that advice instead of creating Office 2007.....or Vista, for that matter!

I want one. That's my opinion.

is the heatsink material different on the T61 and R61? (ie one is copper and the other is aluminum?)

What is the brightness of 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT that is used on T61P? A friend of mine has a T61 with 14.1" widescreen, the brightness is over 200 lm, but I'm not sure whether it is the case for the 15.4" WSXGA+TFT. I'm using a T60, its screen is not bright enough(probably only 150 lm).
