    - 8 Channel Surround Sound, 4 embedded speakers
    - MiniPCI expansion
    - 15 lbs.
    - 18" x 13" x ??
    - TBA March 3rd

    -----------------------------------------

WidowPC is about to blow the doors off the gaming notebook. The Sting 919 will feature a 19" display, AMD CPU and two, yes two dedicated graphics cards fromNVIDIA. Pricing is not yet known, though the system is expected to be released before the end of April.

    WidowPC The Sting 919

The final specs are still being finalized as WidowPC works to ensure every part of this gaming beast is tight. They're expected to use video cards from the NVIDIA 7800 family, in an effort to replicate desktop-style gaming performance on a notebook. Their giant 19" display will also be "fast-response" meaning it won't be a bottleneck when it comes to high-end gaming.

While The Sting 919 will certainly weigh a ton and not be very battery friendly, WidowPC is making every effort to keep it mobile. They're also promising an advanced cooling system to make sure heat is not an issue. LAN party anyone?

unless widow suddenly went into manufacturing, Clevo will be the one making the efforts.

I love the "spin" from some resellers. They are promising "advanced cooling"? What Clevo delivers to their door will be what they sell.

Geez, these monstosities just keep changing the definition of a notebook. ;)

Well, I think it will still be quite mobile. I would rather carry a 17lb notebook to a lan party than a light desktop anyday.

I will be interested to see what comes about with these...nice post Brian! :)

Where was this ten years ago when I still had the time to go to LAN parties?

Of course, ten years ago I was a broke high-school student....

LOL - you might still be broke after you buy this one. As to cooling, regardless of who makes it, it will need a good cooling system since there will be a ton of heat. I don't know how much input Window has with this particular model, I suspect more than normal though.

I've always analyzed the cooling system of any notebook before I consider it; some, such as Acer, have especially poor solutions.

My Sager currently has the best one I've seen so far, and so did my HP zv5000z.

All I have to say is, given the amount of heat put off by the 7800 GPU, this had better be darn good. :)

Really pushing the envelope with dual GPU's in a notebook! Amazing.

    Cheers

by portable, do they mean via the llama you'll have to have to carry it and the required auxilliary cooling system around for you? or maybe i could get one of my dogs (see avatar) to lug it around in saddlebags. and i thought i was nuts for considering a 17"!

Now this is a brilliant idea. I'm sold. Where can I pick one up? :p Sure, it'll be big, hot, and battery unfriendly, but you just can't beat a PC that can be moved around as easily as a laptop computer.

    Heh.
Portability is in the eye of the beholder [metaphor doesn't work too well here, does it?], I guess. I think by "portable" I would mean that it is more portable than any other balls-to-the-wall gaming machine I can think of. I mean, is there even an SFF box that'll do SLI? If so, you still have to carry a separate monitor...

    Good luck finding a carrying case for that. xD! Before long people will just have to resort to throwing it in the truckbed and putting a tarp over it. o.o;

For what it's worth, word is, NVIDIA got upset with the info WidowPC had on their site, so it's gone now. While WidowPC is on pace to be the first with SLI, we're going to see a few others this year too.

Guesses on the poundage of this thing? I'm gonna say 15.

    Another small article here. not yanked by nvidia yet;
    http://seasickmedia.com/laptops/ajp-launches-19-inch-sli-laptop
But it looks like whatever was on mobilemag.com got yanked. no trace of any sli laptop story there.

Yep it looks like a bigger clevo m570a which is their latest gaming notebook , imho they now lead the market in terms of specs/design , I would buy oem and not the "painted" branded ones .

The 19 is not a laptop , its just the future of notbooks and desktop converging into the same form factor of all in one , without dozens of cables danglling from the back and quite protable from room to room .

The only problem is the price and that I dont see how youd be able to put it on your lap .

the future? don't be too sure. until notebooks have a solid, complete and future-ready video card update capability, desktops won't be going anywhere. The current "might upgrade/could upgrade" MXM-type solutions aren't making me feel all warm and fuzzy about upgrading.

true, but the ratio of intel/GPU's to amd/GPU is very lopsided at the moment. but the turion will change that eventually

i've never owned a notebook over ten pounds and can't imagine doing so even though I don't move around with them much but then again as a desktop replacement and if I had the money I would definetly pick one of these up-from falcon nw anyway. Oh and dell is supposed to be coming out with some sort of 20inch (or 19?) model in the future. Should be less expensive and probably less heavy/huge...well maybe. ANyway thats the biggest problem with notebooks-cost and upgrading. Upgrading cpu and graphics is a real pain among others.

Thanks for MSI for giving options.

None of the big Japanese/USA brands offer Turions with what gamers say decent dedicated gpu's.

If there were no MSI and Acer ... there will be none

the ferrari was barely affordable, now this one @ $5000.00 is way over the top.
