Toshiba, LG Display Netbooks at CES

LG didn’t stray too far from its mobile roots with its LG X120 Netbook, which made a brief appearance during the LG press conference at CES in Las Vegas. LG touts the X120 as a device with the “computing power of a laptop and the freedom of a mobile device,” and to that end, it does feature some pretty standard netbook specs. This includes 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, and a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen, all in at 2.8 pounds.

Where the X120 sets itself apart is with its built-in 3G wireless, GPS, and Smart On button for quick loading of popular apps at startup, and built-in 1.3 megapixel camera. For upgrades, the X120 now runs Windows 7, up from the previous models that shipped with XP.

Prior to CES, the X120 featured an Atom 1.6 GHz processor. There was no word on whether that had changed.

Toshiba is also flaunting its netbook at CES, the Mini NB305, a follow-up to last year’s NB205. Toshiba is promising 11 hours of battery life from the device’s six-cell battery, and this netbook also runs Windows 7. Coming in at 2.6 pounds, the NB305’s other specs include:

• Intel Atom N450 processor,
• 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
• 250GB HDD
• 10.1-inch LED backlit display
• 802.11b/g/n wireless
• 10/100 Ethernet
• Two USB 2.0 ports

The NB305 will be available on January 12th with prices ranging from $350 to $400.
