I was startled with how little was in the box - took me a moment to get my act together, find the "quick start" (inside flap of the very small manual) but I had it up and running, connected to the web within a half hour.
Its a good looking, light little machine! The screen is gorgeous but needed some adjustment - I chose a high contrast color scheme in the Control Panel and was satisfied with it in short order. I love that the touch pad is sealed so dirt can't get in - wish they could do that with the keyboard. Speaking of the keyboard - VERY nice - the keys are well spaced, responsive and have a little squish to them which I like. They feel soft too, which is good for me - I put a whooping on a laptop.
There are lots of ports and the placement of all the buttons and icons on them pleases me - no problems there. I had to do some exploring to figure out what made the sleep and hibernate work and then resume.
So far, i haven't gotten it hooked up to my LAN but I suspect there is a firewall issue and am going to tackle that again today. And, I spent most of last night tweaking and reading - I found that nearly everything that bugged me was resolveable. For example, I accidentally opened an audio/video training file from microsoft and the sound was HORRIBLE... so I went and updated the driver for the audio codecs, and changed the audio scheme in control panel to the stereo laptop scheme and voila - good sound. Great sound, actually. Similar with touch pad - it was not behaving the way I wanted and at first, I didn't see the expanded effects for the touchpad and again - a little tweaking and its now excellent.
The only thing i've not solved and probably can't is that there is an incredible warm area next to the left of the touch pad. I have read this elsewhere - its not unbearable but certainly noticeable. The machine is otherwise cool enough.
I got the 12 cell battery and although it does make the laptop sit up a little cockeyed, I like it! In fact, I found its easier to trot around the house with it because of the little ledge my hand can hold I haven't tested out the battery life but was very pleased to be able to work without cords for 3 hours last night without needing to plug in - and also didn't go below 50% in that time. Yay! I've often wondered what point wireless computing was if we didnt' have wireless power... this will keep me happy for a moment
Lastly - the manuals are superb and informative - once you access the PDFs. I found out pretty much everything I needed right there and was pleased at how they were laid out.
I guess thats it - I look forward to getting back to writing and working with a laptop again!

Hi -
Sorry, I haven't played any games on it - I use it strictly for business applications and some graphics!
After one month, I am still happy with this purchase. I've had some issues but they were either things I knew going into it (today's laptops run hot and this one is no exception) or that I simply need to figure out how to optimize myself the problem is between the seat and keyboard, so to speak!). I love love love the keyboard, the screen, the speakers, and a dozen or so other little happy things built into this laptop
