The Toshiba Tecra M6 is a 12.1-inch screen business notebook from Toshiba. While being an ultraportable in terms of screen size, the M6 uses a regular clock speed processor, standard 2.5" hard drive and a built-in optical drive so that you don't sacrifice performance on the go and don't have to lug an external optical drive along. Following is a full review of the Tecra M6.

Nice review. The M6 is a good ultra-portable machine.

I wonder if that weight of 4.1 is with or without AC adapter. If that is the weight without then it seems to me that the Dell m1210 is well worth the extra weight.

It's without the adapter. The system overall isn't that light and it's not exactly Toshiba's play in the "ultra ultraportable". If you want a super skinny and light laptop from Toshiba you need to look at either the Toshiba Portege R200 or the Toshiba Satellite U200.

Overall this laptop seems unremarkable but useful as any laptop can be, and nothing huge to complain about. Given the price, it doesn't seem terribly competitive, but if you can find it for a better price than retail then not much to complain about.

And once again, a nice review, thanks!

Very nice review, straight and to the point. I notice that you list one of the cons as being that it only comes with a one year warranty standard. I can't think of too many major manufacturer's that offer anything longer than that without having to shell out extra. Seems to be pretty much the norm these days.

For business oriented laptops it is not uncommon for laptops to come with standard 3 year warranty's and I think that was the beef with this laptop as it is supposed to be a business oriented laptop.

It looks like this notebook could have had a bigger screen, perhaps 13", while keeping the same dimensions overall. On the other hand, it's nice to see notebooks of this size with a built-in optical drive.

    Thanks for all the comment.
The warranty thing is actually pretty varied, and it's getting harder to get 3 years without paying more. I think Lenovo has gone to 1 year, Fujitsu is 1 year, etc. But HP and Dell, anyway, still give 3 years. Probably not much of a "con," really. For $1250 or so (reseller price), seems like a decent choice for a lot of people, depending on just what they want.
And yes, given the width of the LCD bezel, it seems 13.3" would have been possible.

Is Tecra M6 the same model as Portege M500? It seems very much alike!

It looks more like the Satellite U200.
