My first thought is, that's an ugly-looking notebook.

My second, perhaps more practical, is, couldn't they have at least put a NumPad on such a wide notebook? There's clearly space if they move the speakers around.

But even if it got a NumPad, I want something with more vertical pixels, and have already spent additional money to get that (16:10 instead of 16:9) in my standalone monitor.

Also, a font oddity in the article:
"is ideal for movie buffs looking to enjoy 2.35:1 movies in their original format ?€? without black bars commonly seen on most laptop displays."

21:9... As if 16:9 wasn't horrible enough. Though on the bright side, it has a lot more pixels than 1366x768.

That 21:9 ultrabook is pretty neat.

    Good stuff Jerry

The extra wide spaces on either side of the 21:9 keyboard make it look very unappealing. To me it gives the impression of an amateur effort with swathes of flat plastic on top.

Look more closely, those are Harman/Kardon speakers.

To me 21:9 is only good in the sense that no one else offers it. Hopefully this is not the start of another trend to force the consumers over to even less screen real estate masked as something larger like the move to 16:9 was.

Odd, as I also like more vertical space, but I can't argue that it makes WINDOWS KEY + LEFT/RIGHT far more useful when you have such a wide screen...

21:9 is epic on massive screens :D

I want a dedicated 21:9 projector with 4k resolution that would be the nuts an 95% close to the actual theatre

very interested in the ratio for games too as it gives a wider field of view and more immersion meaning less need for 3 screens might be the sweet spot for those not wanting full surround

for laptops its probably too wide and lacking height. 16:10 is still the best imo. the least they could of done is make a statement like apple, this is EXACTLY why apple are seen as the leaders in design (and im not an apple fan) and other manufacturers shovel crap to consumers until they complain. Toshiba had an opportunity to make it 2x the resolution 18" and 120HZ with MVA or IPS, instead the resolution is 1080p minus the borders and you end up with 1792 x 768, bet its a TN panel too with low gamut and edge lit LED to back that up its 14" which will look far too small vertically (i will stand corrected if its not though)
