Well, it looks as if the Qosmio's desgin remains basically the same, but gets some nice "under-the-hood" changes. Nice to finally see a dual-core tablet PC!

Isn't the M400 in the protégé line rather than the tecra line?
-
Nope. As far as I know, that model doesn't exist, at least here it the US.
-
Sorry about this other post (for some reason, I can't edit my posts ) but actually the M4000 might be be an offshot of the M2000, which is in fact in the Protégé line.

Toshiba also includes HDMI support so that so you can hook up the Qosmio into your HDTV for a true home-theater experience. I might just get one.
Toshiba also recently released the Satellite A100, which replaces the M40 series. At the moment though, the A100 is not being offered with the Core Duo chips. I wonder if and when this might change. -

Ohh, i always misred protégé, never paid attention to it. There's no portégé line elsewhere than northamerica? Where do they fit in other places?

On the Qosmio...
1) What's the native screen resolution? It better not STILL be a WXGA+ screen. When will they offer WSXGA+ like everybody else?
2) This is probably not mentioned, but what will the pricing be? It would have gone down just because, but that HD-DVD drive may jack the price back up to $3000. -
here's an article where they get into the resolution support a bit more for the new Qosmio http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/01/07/ces2006_toshibaqosmio_hddvd/

Qosmio seem to come with HDDVD player. IF the price is not too exorbitant (close to 2k ) then I would love to get one. Even though blu ray might kill HDDVD eventually, it wont hurt to have a HDDVD player.
-
Can anyone get there hands on the wallpaper on the new Portege M400?
-
Toshiba has hd-dvd drive. Sony should try to install blu ray drive on their sony laptop. Toshiba Qosmio might be closer to 3k than 2k. too expensive for an average person to pay.

Is that a PCMCIA slot or is it the new express card thing?
