    Toshiba Intros 640GB 2.5" Hard Drive

    Toshiba today announced a 640GB 2.5-inch hard drive. The two-platter drive has a height of 9.5mm which means it will work in notebooks. Specifications include a 5400RPM speed and an 8MB cache. The drive will also be available in 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB versions, and will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year.

    I think I wasnt clear when I tried to exlain myself.
    I was saying that this 640GB is like the 500GB, formed by two 320GB platters running together, like the 500GB uses two 250GB platters running together.
    Or am I speaking non-sense still?

    Yes, that is correct. It's not the same as RAID as you initially said - that was all that was being pointed out.

    RAID isn't like that though. But your conclusion is so obvious I don't think anybody believed you were actually trying to say that.

    still many questions...
    is it a 9.5mm standard size or the bigger 12.5mm which very few notebooks can use?
    also... price? performance? power consumption? etc.
