Toshiba today announced a 640GB 2.5-inch hard drive. The two-platter drive has a height of 9.5mm which means it will work in notebooks. Specifications include a 5400RPM speed and an 8MB cache. It seems like Toshiba is revamping their lines!
Finally!!! -
If this is anything like their 500GB drive I'll buy it as soon as it comes out.
-
most likely 2 320GB together running in RAID sold as a single 640GB?
-
-
This isn't like SSDs Serg...
-
as for the 640GB HDD, two 320 platter...no?
-
-
im talking non-sense, no?
-
Somebody is trippin' balls today.
-
Nice idea though. Could set up RAID in notebooks with a single drive bay.
-
I think I wasnt clear when I tried to exlain myself.
I was saying that this 640GB is like the 500GB, formed by two 320GB platters running together, like the 500GB uses two 250GB platters running together.
Or am I speaking non-sense still? -
Yes, that is correct. It's not the same as RAID as you initially said - that was all that was being pointed out.
-
-
oooooooooooh i see
-
still many questions...
is it a 9.5mm standard size or the bigger 12.5mm which very few notebooks can use?
also... price? performance? power consumption? etc. -
Power consuption must be a battery killer...lol
