I think it looks stunningly subtle and classy-cool. I do however, doubt the heat conducting properties of bamboo. What do you think?

    From the website:
Asus EcoBook -- the first laptop to feature real bamboo panelling. Yes, bamboo -- the stuff that's gobbled up by pandas and used to construct beach houses in the Maldives.

The EcoBook, due to launch next year, is designed to communicate Asus' eco-friendly message. Like it or loathe it, you should check out the world exclusive pictures over the next few pages.

I give them props for trying something new atleast, better keep your notebook away from Pandas and termites though.... :)

I seriously doubt bamboo will be the future laptop/PC building material but it's still interesting. I like HP's biodegradable corn plastic idea a bit better, either that or people need to figure out how to recycle more easily.

Sweet, the touchpad has been enlarged quite a bit, so people can use a stylus to write or use it, perhaps like a Wacom tablet?

That would indeed be awesome. I love my wacom. For heavy usage I'd still resort to my larger version.

wait whats eco about this. It looks like a regular chasis with bamboo on it.

No less material consumption or anything if thats what they were going for =/ , but other then that it looks cool (but prefers air-brushed magnesium or leather :) )

I know I'm extremely picky, but this is so close to being a *gorgeous* laptop and they RUIN it by doing that stupid thing where the color around the LCD doesn't match the color of the interior palmrest/etc. I hate the way this seems to be the case with 90+% of the laptops on todays market. It just looks shoddy and halfassed. I'm really not convinced the silver keyboard and touchpad go well either... but more forgivable than the silver lcd trim.

I wasn't sure of this computer at first (still not completely), but I think its pretty neat. Asus has some crazy ideas, but where would we get without them?

Yes, nothing "eco" about cutting down trees and plants for a laptop

I will say I love the idea of wood panelling for laptop lids. So stylish. Padauk for me (not the best picture, but trust me, its a lovely redwood)
