    Targus CKT500 notebook case mini-review

I bought a Targus CKT500 notebook case to carry my monstrous E1705 in. Finding cases that fit 17" laptops wasn't too easy. In the end, I settled on this Targus for only $29.99 at CompUSA after rebates. At Fry's and BestBuy, this same case was $79.99.

The Targus case feels well-constructed and is well-padded on the inside. Open the front flap for a little compartment and a card that reads "Inspected with pride by Inspector No. 79."

There's a similar compartment in the back, with a divider.

Next we have yet another compartment that folds out, with 4 zippered pockets. Where on earth is the main compartment?

Finally, we get to the heart of the case, where we find a thickly padded area for the laptop itself, another zippered pocket, three Velcro pockets, and a cucumber-shaped bag which I can only assume is for the power supply. So the case has a lot of compartments... but does everything fit?

Yes! The laptop fits snugly, as does my ipod, remote and receiver, mouse, and power supply. The mouse looks particularly cute as it tries to burrow into its new home.

All of my essential peripherals managed to fit in the same compartment as the laptop itself, which still leaves me lots of space for other things. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the case and it definitely helps to make this large laptop more travel-friendly.

Nice review. I am seriously considering buying this bag, but for some reason, I am not sure about getting a Targus product. Your review has certainly helped dispel some of my fears!

This is a good solution if you're just carrying a laptop, few accessories and some documents. If you need to carry a few text books as well (which might just do your back in with a 17" notebook + books) then a backpack might be the way to go.

i use this with my 15.4" notebook (just sent in a review for it abaxter), and the case has some extra room for the AC adapter or a second battery right next to the notebook!
