In an effort to learn more about our readership, NotebookReview.com has a new survey to find out your opinions on the messages, offers and solicitations from technology companies. As an incentive, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a drawing for an Apple iPad 2.

so does anyone ever win these surveys? as in, do you post a winners list ever? just curious. seems like an easy way to get people to fill out surveys and not ever have to give anything away if there are no lists of winners. just my .02.

btw, i hate it when reps call me or email me after i HAVE to put in an email address or signup for an account JUST to view some white papers or product information. if we want to contact the vendor, we call them or email them or chat with them.

Is this open to the entire world?

@the_seamonkey, I think they are indeed winning. Imagine, an iPad 2 costs a few hundred dollars. People get excited, and fill out the survey. Now, imagine what it would cost to hire a consultancy and do the same kind of research. By offering 1 single iPad 2, probably hundreds if not thousands will fill out the survey. It is not a very big expense for the company, but the information they get is very valuable.

I once listened to a lecture that talked about this same issue. If you want valuable user data / user experience data, all you need is one single prize, a coupon somewhere or on iPad 2, and people will be glad to give you that data you need :)
