The $100 upgrade for a touchscreen Vaio T would be well worth it, especially since the touchpad doesn't support Windows 8 gestures.

Yeah the upgrade would certainly serve to help fix the touchpad issue and would make navigating metro far more enjoyable. I’d be hesitant to invest another $100 in a device (that I personally feel) is already way too underpowered for its price tag.

However, if you find yourself set on purchasing a Sony VAIO then upgrading to the touchscreen is not a bad choice at all.

My favorite sub-$1000 Vaio is the E14 Premium, with a 900p 14" screen, a 7670M gpu, an i5, an optical drive, a touchscreen, and a unique Xperia-Tablet-inspired case design, all for under $900.

Well it certainly is not underpowered if you choose the i5 or i7 options for CPU choice. you just so happened to review the lowest end model possible. Overall nice review though.

Personally I wish that the Vaio T series had a 900p IPS display. If it had that it would definitely be a no-brainer for me. That coupled along with a touch screen, i7, and all flash storage would simply be heaven.
