The Sony brand name is often associated with a premium price tag, but the VAIO E-series laptops are the most affordable notebook PCs available from Sony. The 17-inch VAIO EC, the 14-inch EA and the 15-inch VAIO EB offer mainstream performance and multimedia features for less than $800. Keep reading to take a closer look at the VAIO EC.

page 1 says this has an AMD 5740 discrete graphics card - based on the 3DMark06 score, surely you mean 5470?

Yes, I did some overly aggressive editing and chopped the words "resolution" and "contrast" from the pros and cons when I shouldn't have. I corrected that to clarify the pros and cons.

I also mistakenly flipped the 4 and the 7 in spec list for the 5470 GPU name. That's fixed as well. ;)

Good old Sony cutting corners. They make a decent notebook but give a washed out screen and that's where it counts since people have to stare it.

That is because they need a better reason to sell you higher end models like the Vaio F, Z, and CW(when that was on the market) with their better, and higher res screen options.
