Sony today introduced the VAIO Pro 11, an 11.6-inch Ultrabook laptop, and the VAIO Pro 13, a 13.3-inch touch Ultrabook. Sony claims that both of these Ultrabooks are the "world's lightest" in their categories and perfect for the mobile professional or student who requires premium performance in a light-yet-durable design. In addition, the next evolution of Sony's slider hybrid PC, the VAIO Duo 13, features an improved design and pen solution for taking notes directly on the screen.

Any news on updates to the Vaio S ?

I know the fact that these have Ultrabook processors will get a lot of negative feedback, but I think these are absolutely fantastic updates to Sony's lineup. Engadget also has a few reviews and the Duo 13 got 10 hours of battery life. Absolutely incredible.

The Duo 13 gets the same battery life as my Duo 11 WITH a sheet battery, yet it only weighs about 0.1 lbs more than my Duo 11 WITHOUT a sheet battery. And it's got a bigger screen. Awesome.
Replacing the finnicky trackpoint with a traditional (if small) trackpad is a great move. So is adding a method of storing the pen on the convertible (with the Duo 11, the storage silo was on the sheet battery, which is great for everyone except the majority of people who never bought the sheet battery).
The VAIO Pro is a little traditional for my tastes, but it certainly takes aim perfectly at the MBA 11 and MBA 13. I think it's hard to deny that the Pro 11 blows the MBA 11 out of the water. That said, I would have preferred for the Pro to carry a full-power CPU like the VAIO Z did. -
Great. Just when I'm certain of getting the Duo-11, the 13-inch version is announced
I think I still would rather have the smaller more tablet-like computer, but the Pro 11 looks like an interesting contender as well. -
(1) battery life. 9.5 hours instead of 4.5 hours. Sweet.
(2) a traditional trackpad instead of the finnicky trackpoint.
It also adds a slightly roomier keyboard (fixing a common complaint that I never shared) and adds a clip to attach your digitizer stylus to your Duo (which the Duo 11 lacked unless you got the sheet battery). It's GREAT. I'd go with the Duo 13. -
I agree with Mitlov here, the Vaio Duo 13 absolutely blows the Duo 11 out of the water (not that the Duo 11 was that bad, but still, it's hard to deny the awesomness of the Duo 13).
Also, for the Vaio Pro 11 and 13, The Verge claimed that the cases were too flimsy on them, with the Pro 11 being particularly bad. Hmmmmm..................
However, if both the Duo 13 and the Pro 13 come with the same specs internally, I guess there's no reason to even bother with the Pro 13 since the Duo 13 has the superior build quality and a form factor tailored specifically for Windows 8. -
The Pro is a half-pound lighter and I think $150 cheaper than the 2.9 lb, $1400 Duo 13, but overall I think the Duo 13 is a FAR better package. The slider design adds a ton of versatility and the possibility of using it as a tablet, and the digitizer pen is a nice addition.

The Duo 13's screen seems to be bent back at a pretty wide angle; is it any different than the Duo 11? It's hard to tell just from photos, but CNET noted that as a potential downside.
