I always get a kick out of Sony's out of the ordinary screen sizes but what the deuce is with their choice of colors?

I haven't seen color schemes like that since the 80's.

I think it's a pretty good price for what you get. I read that the graphics card is actually pretty good. Plus the new i3 cpus. :D

    The green one looks nice.

I just noticed this model at the Belgian sonystyle store. The model with the 2.26 ghz corei5 will cost 850€. This is the first laptops in months which I'm actually considering to buy.
Its not expensive, looks look, and the hardware is good enough for my needs.
I just hope the cooling will be good. Those low prices (low for sony) also make me wonder about the screen quality, perhahps we will get a bad screen like in the nw series? I sure hope not.
Possible child-diseases also concern me a bit (like the new F series have that zooming issue).

Here's a youtube vid for the fans who want to see this thing in more detail.

edit: oh oh, its as glossy as those dell inspirons...I hate fingerprints :(

"HD" or "HD+"? This technically has an HD screen since it has 720+ lines of vertical resolution; HD+ is 1600x900. Sony historically has not offered higher-res screens on its mainstream 15.x" notebooks.

i think the colors are great. the keyboard is a different color because of the skin, right? they probably just made them unmatching colors to draw attention to that.
whens the last time you saw a laptop where ALL the chassis matches anyway?

This is taking color customization to the next level, short of Alienware's keyboard FX. :p

Trackpad is skewed way too far to the left, for me.

Is there any practical reason why trackpads are more to the left nowadays? I recall most of them were dead in the center before.

Usually they are centered under the keyboard around the spacebar; many new 15.6" notebooks have a number pad so that pushes the keyboard over and the touchpad along with it.

The E series DOES NOT have LED backlit display, none of the specs or features say so on the site and I asked a rep in chat on the site to confirm.

A question to anyone who has seen an E series in person, what are the "mouse" buttons like? I was very disappointed with the buttons on the CW series because I felt they pushed in to easily and seemed shoddy.

the thing sony is missing right now is a 'higher end' 15 inch. Take the mid teir ati graphics, put i5, arrendale i7 in there, switchable graphics, a sleek design, backlit keyboard, high res screen, and 5+ hours on integrated and sony has a winner.

Doesn't this model though offer a higher res with a better color option screen in Europe, or is that the F series?

I don't think they want E series to cannibalize the sales of F series. Probably it also is why it took a while fo rthem to offer CW with 330. And that probably is why HP got rid of HDX once they have Envy. There's no point in having multiple "higher-end" models in the same category.

Well this is because of the numpad. If you take a closer look you will realize (just like in F series) that the E series's got a numpad on the right side, so technically speaking the trackpad IS centered compared to the keyboard. You will be typing a bit closer to the left edge of the notebook because of the numpad =]

Its just that. And its better for ergonomics =]
