Most of the Samsung laptops (yes I have played with them) are not that good in terms of build quality and features. Plus, Samsung screens are the worst that can be found in laptops. I don't know why you're so craving about it.
As for LG, it's a little better, and their screens are usually good. But still, not the best. -

stop living in the past, those were the old models that had the screens that werent so good plus two of the smaller notebooks i think the X series has LED screens go read reviews around this site you'll see they are no slouch i have a touch of color tv and will buy a touch of color stand soon so this touch of color notebook would go good with it

I think Samsung makes good microwaves... wait, this thread wasn't about that... either way, they do, and I even have one.
As for their notebooks, well...erm. yeah.. I would rather buy another microwave from them.
On a serious note, I would advise people to do their homework before buying, which is always a good thing to do anyway. -

Samsung has long sold laptops in Europe and Asia, but for years its reach in the U.S. mobile computing market has been limited to the Q1 UMPC, a niche product. That's all set to change after Tuesday, though, when the company announced that it would begin selling laptops in the United States. -

Heh, i'll give that to you LG makes some pretty amazing microwaves....not to get off topic though
Also, is there any news if LG will come down this way anytime soon? not to get off topic again

There are always rumors, but nothing more specific, and this topic has been beaten to death since the P300 was released. On the other hand, you can always emigrate in Canada. It isn't far and it's a beautiful country from what I have heard.
Btw, you have a competition as there is another thread about Samsung, so watch your back, you know how it is these days.
And hey, there is nothing wrong to go off-topic, that's the most interesting part actually. -
What are you talking about? Samsung manufactures LCD screens for sony, hp and so on. Sony Flat screens are made with Samsung LCD panels...
-
Yes, Samsung is a major screen supplier, and he knows that, plus, he already replaced one Samsung screen so yeah.
As for their quality, they are about the most hated screen manufacturer around as we often see people complaining about horrible Samsung screens, whether it's graininess, light leakage, etc. But then again, this issue is blown out of proportion around, and it doesn't mean that all Samsung screens are bad nor does it mean that the screens from other manufacturers don't suffer from the same problems, in fact, they do. So it depends, but there was time when people avoided certain notebooks exactly because of Samsung screens... things like 1000 pages complains on certain notebook manufaturer's forums happened as well... that's a long story.
Anyway, there are many stories about virtually anything buried around here, but sometimes it's better when you don't know about them.
Ironically, this thread is about screens now... -
OMG LMAO
(good mircowaves do good heatups
)

I agree the build quality is average. But here in Europe the Samsung Q210 is the most competitive priced 12" at the moment. And the R560 is the one of the best priced 15" with 9600GT.
I agree. Reviews have also shown the screens Samsung uses sofar are mediocre.
This may change though with the LED screens in the X360 for example. -

See this thread for links to the X360 on the Samsung US site.
Also this thread about the NC10 netbook.
I would also expect the X460 to follow the X360. It remains to be seen whether / when Samsung decide to sell their main product range in US.
And for those who are wondering why this hasn't happened sooner, I understand that when Dell ordered the Latitude X1 from Samsung there was a no-competition agreement attached. This has now expired.

That doesn't make them the best, and yet, there are more screen manufacturers than just SamSung. Besides, not all Sony screens use samsung panels. There is a big difference between a FZ screen and a Pavilion screen.
   -
depends on the panel.. the lg panel used in the dell m1730 is PURE CRAP.. the samsung is MUCH NICER.. and normally i would never say that about samsung's.. but the lg panel they use in the 1730 is garbage imo

Wow you answered my question so easily, leave it to Dell to stop any competition in any way they can, this will be fun to see where this goes im interested in that LG P310 tthough(off topic again) 13.3" and a 9600 gt? Yes please -

The source of information re Dell is in this thread and probably elsewhere in the Samsung forum.

Why are we even concentrating on weak *** netbooks when we should be enhancing the actual notebooks with better performance.

well they are going with the market they have no choice, if the economy wasn't like crap i dont think netbooks would have been this hot.
